I was just reading on the insurance forum and it looks like I might be having a med. suppervised diet. This is what others on my insurance have said, man! this sucks! I'll give up before its over.  I have United Health care.  I know its different for every plan and state, but it don't look so good, cause this looks pretty basic to all plans.  booohooo!

You should give them a call and see what they need.  But yes, most of them do require something like a 6 month supervised diet program.  Don't give up!    There is plenty to get done in that time before your surgery.

I know it's hard not to get discouraged, with all the hoops to jump through. Listen to Kathi and call your insurance, they should be able to send you a list of requirements for this surgery. Do you have anything from doctors appointments in the past that could work towards that requirement? I'll be here rooting for you, whatever you decide. Candace

Well if you are logging your food for Corinne that is part of the supervised diet.. Mine required a multi disciplinary medical that included the 3 month of everything. There were 2 sections with my Ins... My blood pressure is what allowed the 3 month for me... Otherwise I would have had to go the 6 month.. I would call Crystal she deals with all kinds of ins co.s and if you give her a little time she can tell you what you will need to have.

well, that is encouraging, if they count what I'm journalling now.  YOur right this can be a long up and down journey.  I gotta slap myself not to give up, I'm just having a bad week, at home and that just hit me the wrong way when I read that.  gee if I follow a 6 mo diet I might not need the surgery, but as we all know, i'll just gain it back, that is WHY I need the surgery.  have a nice weekend, and thanks,  cheryl

NEVER NEVER NEVER GIVE UP! You can do this. Just be patient. You are doing this to get healthy. This is just a blip compared to the rest of your life. Hang in there.
