Lump under my right breast

I'm headed to the doctor's tonight. I've had a weird lump under my right breast for like 3 weeks. I thought that it was a pimple at first (one of the under skin ones without a head) but it didn't go away and just kept getting bigger. Over the weekend it became sore and pink. It's rock hard and the size of a quarter and you can see it sitting about 1/2 to 3/4 inch off of my skin. The nurse I talked to when I called yesterday wanted to get me in ASAP, she said it sounded like a sebaceous gland cyst, and since my doctor didn't have any openings today she wanted me to see the nurse practitioner. SO that's where I'm headed at 4:15. I'm sure it's not a big deal, but with my body still in shock from surgery and the dramatic weight loss I wouldn't be surprised if something nutty did go wrong! Anyone have any experience with stuff like this???

summer, hope it all works out.  I understand it can bring on alot of stress and worry.  I come from a family of lumps and bumps, and you can't help but stress out, and keep playing with it and then it gets sore and red.  Today you will find out more and will help you relax.  and your right about all your weight loss and body out of wack.  Stay possitive and all our thoughts and prayers are with you today.  cheryl

Gosh I hope it turns out ok.  I have had my share of lumps that sound like that.  Annoying, painful, can't stop playing with them----but always fine.  I'm sure it's fine.  Let us know how it goes.

Summer,           You are in my thoughts and prayers today. I know things like this can be stressful but stressing out won't help matters either. Keep up the positive attitude and you'll get answers this afternoon. Take things one step at a time. We're all here for you.           By the way, I have another blouse for you that I bought and out grew before wearing it. Will try to get it off to you sometime this week.          May God send His angels to help ease your anxiety at this time, Keep us posted. Anne

Jeez Summer! Good thing you do self exams. Smart girl! I'm sure it's minor but best to check it out. I found a lump once and it freaked me out. I couldn't leave it alone. It finally let go and it was like a big pimple. What relief but I still had it checked out. Turned out to be nothing but better safe than sorry. Give us an update when you can.

Yup, I have had these.  Not just on my breast.  My panni and inner thigh mostly.  They come and go. It is really weird, just started since surgery and I started losing weight. I am told it is hydrydenitis (not sure if I am spelling that correctly)  My doctor put me on antibiotics but they are back.  It may not be what you have but sounds much like it.

It's always good to get something like this checked out and I suspect that it is probably a cyst - sounds just like what I'm prone too - like said before not just on my breasts, but in other unmentionable places as well..... My thoughts will be with you, Candace

This is what my doctor says I have.

What is Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS)? HS is a common, painful, debilitating, and chronic inflammatory skin disease affecting 1% of the global population, primarily occurring in inverse areas of the skin, e.g. axillae and groin. HS variably presents clinically with painful and chronically recurring, deep-seated follicular nodules, papules, pustules and abscesses, leading to suppuration, fibrosis, distortion, degradation and hypertrophic scarring of the skin. The etiology/pathogenesis/cause of HS is not known. HS remains a distinct and separate disease. In the past, direct comparisons of HS to sweat gland and acne diseases have delayed the planning and development of focused HS research which could discover the actual cause. The following published articles and medical perspectives provide general information which further defines and describes HS.

Thanks for all the well wishes! They worked! It's just a furnucle - so I start antibiotics tomorrow (providing it's ok'd by my surgeon ) and I'm doing hot compresses. If it doesn't go away with that, then they'll go in and get it out! Let's hope that doesn't happen!! Thanks so much for thinking of me, guys! You're the best!!!
