What do they give you in hospital?
I was wondering what they give you for protein while you are in the hospital? Typical stay is 3 days right?? So that would be the clear liquid phase. Do they just try to get liquids in, or give protein in them?
I just got a bunch of New Whey bullets to have handy, wondering if I should bring one or two? Can you tell I am a planner. I don't even have my date yet!
Honestly I'm not sure you get protein at all when your in the hospital.. Day of surgery no fluids... Day after surgery no fluids.. You get Potassium something or other in your IV.. After you have had your x ray to check for possible leaks For me it was wednesday morning surgery was on a monday. Once Dr Loggins sees you are leak free he will have you do 16 little 1 ounce cups of water over 4 hours.. I suppose you could bring some with you just in case but if everything goes well. You won.t need them.. Just from experience for the first few days home they really want you to concentrate on just getting they min fluids in... Hope that helps
Thanks! I sort of figured we wouldn't get much after surgery, but in our book it says clear liquids (while in hospital) and has ideas of how to get protein in....so I was curious since I think when we get out we can move on from just clear liquids. So you had surgery on a Monday---what day were you discharged?
No need for protein just fluids. I got ice chips/water and popsicles. I was only in the hospital for a little under 24 hrs. They did bring a meal to me. DUH!! Dr Cobean is just going to have everyone just do liquids. You should check with your surgeon but I don't think you will need to bring it nor will you care. BUT very good that you are planning this out! Good girl!
