Carbs under a certain amount??
Hi Tanya,
You're obsessing like me. LOL. I'll ask tomorrow about carbs but if I recall we don't have to worry about them as long as we follow the other rules fat, sugar, sodium, etc. When I eat carbs I try whole grain options though. No white bread or potato. I do have 12 grain bread, whole wheat bread or wraps and sweet potato, long grain wild rice. All yummy stuff. You're going to ace this wls thing. You are so on top of it. You'll be able to do it with your eyes closed when the time comes.
I'll let everyone know Thursday morning how I make out after seeing Corinne. I'm so psyched to finally see her again.

I'm 4 months out from surgery and at my last meeting with Corrine I asked how many carbs I'm supposed to have. She figured it out with my weight and calorie intake and said no more than 80 grams a day. I was surprised it was that high.
So my goals are 60-80g protein, under 80g carbs, under 5g sugar or fat, and lots of fiber. I think I meet all of them now but I didn't right after surgery. The protein was the worst, I couldn't stand the shakes and meats made me too full.
I'm sure you'll do great now and after surgery!!
Cheryl
Did you originally keep track of other things besides protein? Like did you keep track of your fluids? I will have to keep track of calories at first until I get used to it. I want to make sure i don't go over. Although it sounds like people have more of a hrad tiome getting it in, rather than over.
Tanya, the LAST thing you'll worry about initially will be the calories! I kept track of my fluid and protein for the first 2 weeks post-op and when I met with Corinne the day I had my staples out we didn't even go over them. I told her I was trying my best and feeling pretty good and that was what was important.
Even now I don't keep track of anything. I try to cram as much protein and fluid in as I can and keep all of my foods within the fat and sugar guidelines and don't worry about anything else. I feel great ... and I judge how I'm doing off of that! Now, if my labs in March (at my 6 month appt.) aren't as awesome as they were at 2 months out, THEN I'll start tracking!
