Boobs and Bad Breath....

Now how's that for a thread title ha ha. I was wondering about this from all of you ladies that have already had surgery.  I am not gonna lie---I have some big boobs lol.  So I am wondering if you lose a lot of weight in that area after surgery as well.  If mine stayed the way they are now I would probably topple over after I lost the weight. Also, I heard about Ketosis (or however you spell it).  I also saw something on it real quick on TV.  So how bad was it?  I am having thoughts of not being able to open my mouth in public for months.  I can take it-----let me know how bad it is.  Is this why everything tastes funky at first??

Tanya, I'm 17 months post op and I've lost 134 pounds and am below goal and I have no boobs left. I had a breast reduction in 1995, went from a very tight 38DD (I'm sure I was bigger but wouldn't buy a bigger bra)  to a loose 36C. Now I wear a 32 or 34 A depending on the bra and that feels big. If I hadn't had the reduction I think I would have more loose skin on my breasts now than I do.  Right now there isn't much there. I buy the padded foam bras or the bras with liquid in them. They make me feel better about myself, I'm so affaid people will think I'm a boy because I have no breasts. It's a mental thing I'm sure. The Ketosis thing for me was very bad for the 1st 2-3 months. I brushed my teeth and used mouth wash all the time and hubby would tell me I needed to brush my teeth again. I also noticed little yellow crystals in my urine.I was told that was also from the Ketosis. I lost alot of weight very quickly but as the weight started to slow down the Ketosis stopped and hubby didn't complain about my breath anymore and the little crystals stopped too. I hope this helps answer your question. The bad breath and everything I had to go through was well worth the new healthier me. ~dori~

Thanks for the reply.  I just read your profile and I am exactly where you were when you started.  That gives me lots of hope and inspiration seeing your loss.  I have always wanted a reduction, but never got one.  So I have the nice 40/42 DD now.  I can not wait for those suckers to get smaller.  I would rather have 'em hanging then as big as they are now---such a pain.  And heck, this big they hang anyways lol.  I can't even believe I am typing about this stuff. So how long did it take you to get to say-----a 14?

Tanya, I started out weighing in at 266 pounds at my first appointment at the MMC Bariatric Center in April 2006. I had already lost a little bit of weight on my own before the appointment. I don't know how much because I didn't own a scale at that time (back then a scale was the devil lol) I only knew I had lost some weight because my 22/24's we a little loose, not as tight as they had been. Between my 1st appointment in April 2006 to my surgery date in August 2006 I had lost 24 pounds from doing the 2 week pre op diet (that was torture) and watching my portion sizes. I was never asked to lose any weight. On my surgery day I weighed 242 pounds I was still wearing my 22/24's but they were big and I needed a belt. By November 2006 I was wearing a size 14. So in 3 months I went from a size 22/24 to a 14. I didn't think I would get below a 12. I now wear a size 4 and I wear belts with them because they're to big and I won't buy smaller clothes because I don't know how long I'll be this little. My nut. says I'll gain back some or that I should. I've stopped going to the gym and riding my stationary bike so I'll stop losing and I miss that. I saved all my clothes from size 8 down to the 4's I'm in now, so that when I do gain some back I have clothes to wear. I just packed them away in plastic totes and wrote the sizes on the outside of the totes in permant marker. I don't want to be bigger than an 8.  One thing no one mentioned before I had the surgery was about how you will feel after you get to your "goal" weight. I feel great physically. Mentally I have days when I still think I'm just as big as I was before surgery. Those are hard days and they seem to be getting worse the smaller I get. I don't know why. On those days I get out the 1 pair of pants I saved from when I was heavy and I put them on. They were my favorite jeans and I thought I looked "good" in them. Now when I put them on I can see how far I've come and it makes those bad days better (I can fit into 1 leg of those old jeans). I hope this helps answer some of your questions about sizes.  Good luck on your journey. ~dori~

For me the breath wasn't bad.  But man the smell of my urine was so strong.  As for the boobs, I really didn't have much to begin with.  I can see breast implants and a lift in my future!!

When I had my surgery I wore a 42I bra, or maybe bigger, it's hard to find bras in that size or bigger so I generally wore the biggest I could find. About 2 months after my surgery I went and saw my chiropractor who I hadn't seen since about a week before surgery and I hadn't told him I was having surgery because he would not have approved. His wife knew and was asking me how I was doing and making sure it would be okay to do a full adjustment on my back and he overheard and wanted to know what we were talking about. His wife said I had surgery and he asked what I had done but nobody answered, and he asked if I had a breast reduction lol. It was the funniest thing ever, I had noticed I had lost weight in my boobs but to have one of my doctors point it out was pretty funny. Now I am at a 42G maybe, it depends on the bra. But my boobs have definitely lost and are getting more saggy than they were to begin with. About Ketosis, I haven't noticed it but about a month ago my mom mentioned she was a little concerned about me because my breath smelled funny, I reminded her about Ketosis and she felt alot better. My fiance also says my breath is sometimes not too good but again it's not something I notice that much.
