Blood Thinners
Its my understanding , DR. prescribe by risk, lower extremities are where clots begin. ( I have a tulip filter in my vein) and some get those - some prescribe the injections, They are short acting and life savers!!! a little inconveince is way worth the risk of a pulminary embolism, I wish I would of had them for my back surgery, and i was up and walking after, still had one and blessed to be here now.
So basically all surgeons are different, and some surgeons with different sized patients prescribe, it is coming more common as the number risk of this surgery is the PE so if theres a tool to prevent it wa laa another tool. I would NOT stop taking it unless you are told to stop.
They are short acting not like coummadin in your blood stream is built up to certain level. Lovenox is a form of heparin. its really top quality and very expensive.. YOu only have a few days left, and Who knows a clot already could of formed the few days you were down and these next days it could be breaking it up.... thats the 7 day reasoning..
HOpe it helps.
I actually have a factor 5 Factor, and found this out after having back surgery and a blood clot in my lung.. and will be on blood thinners forever because of it NOT the RNY.
