What's in your pantry?
I was just curious if you have any "staples" in your pantry now that you have had the surgery?
Protein powders, drinks (just in case)?
SF puddings? Protein chips?
Just wondering what really helps you, or what you have a lot of.
Also, do you find that you have the same thing a lot of the time. For instance, I can have the same breakfast every single day---but always a different dinner. Do you find you are eating the same things each day at certain times?
Great question Tanya. I'd like to know some of the post op answers too. I can tell you I have been experiencing protein powders in stuff like jello (icky) and pudding which I like a lot but find it only lasts about 2 days and then it has a funky taste. I think it spoils. I'm going to buy some mypolex light shakes and try those out too. maybe make my pudding with it along with some skim milk. Maybe that way it won't be so lumpy.
I'll follow this question too.
I'll follow this question too.
I have tried a few things here and there just to test what it will be like. Iadded some powder to my yogurt---oh it was gross and runny. I did a little in pudding once and it was fine (powder). I have read a lot of good things about micellar milk---maybe that would work better. No idea how long it can be used once open though??
I added protein powder to pancakes and it was yummy! But really---should we even be having pancakes ya know.
So basically I have only found that drinking it as a shake would work for me so far. That's why I am curious. My mom tried adding any whey to soup today for a test (I didn't want to as I am still tracking my eating for Corrine and only want to test things out, not use them to meet my goals). It was like the little lumps floating. So even though it is optimized for baking, I think maybe mixing it in cool liquid first then putting it in might be better than adding to the already hot soup.
I am gonna have to get a sample somehow of those protein popsicles. I could live on sf popsicles as it is---imagine them counting as protein! I'd be all set.
Maybe I will get some tips at the pre-surgical support meeting tonight.
Staples..
HI Girls...
I am one month out now and the only thing I can tell you is that my taste buds literally change daily!
I continue to try many many things but one day I may like it and the next I cant stomach it.. so
dont go buying a kazillion things , and my new intake is 4 bites or LESS so you dont need a lot of anything save your money for new clothes! hehe and protein powders for fluid..
even proteins I have only found 1 I can tolerate and its a clear protein .. I have ton in my pantry that I pass on to other relatives that have had same surgery.. there are 3 of us and we found the same , it changes and changes.. I never dreamed I would not like coffee somedays HA.. its true, hazelnut decaf is yummy and I dont use any kind of sugar ever so not a problem, but this morning I couldnt stand a few sips enough already..
sf puddings the first one was sooooo good and then I couldnt stomach another..
so staples I personally would say prepare to search for reg. foods skim milk no sugar added yogurt low fat cheese because those are always available, canned chicken and tuna and get creative with those those are soft stage and forever and affordable. and a couple proteins you like.
Blessings
oh I also eat same things a few days in a row , if its comfortable I keep it if not something else.
just high protein low or no fat no sugar.. its a lot of work read labels!

Thanks for the reply! It is crazy how tastes change. I guess you won't really understand it until it happens. I can't imagine not liking certain things or thinking thingsd are too sweet-----can anything be too sweet?? ha ha I wonder if I will like milk after? I can put it in mashed potatoes (used in cooking) or in coffee---but I would never put it in cereal or drink it plain. I don't know why it grosses me out. I never even drank it as a kid. I suppose I will have to give it a try though.
What protein do you have that is clear? Just curious. One month out----time has flown by. It seems like just yesterday you went in. I hope you're feeling great!
OOps sorry took me a few days to see you replied..
Isopure mango peach I get it at gnc in the auburn mall, and I bought the gold card so if you purchase the first 7 days of the month you get 20 percent off all you buy..
This Isopure has been the thinnest , less chalky greasy stuff I love it,
I use one scoop with a half a package of orange unsweetned koolaid in some warm water to disolve it, just about a cup then stir shake well, then add ice and more water.
It tastes just like TANG.. its refreshing and not too sweet, I dont add anything else.
I dont like to put it in a blender or mixer because it makes it foamy, I like it more like juice or water texture, Directions say 2 scoops for the 50 grams, but since you cant absorb more then 30 in an hour, I choice to break up the scoops as 1 scoop equals 25 grams and its a nicer texture!
with the mango peach it just makes it less soyiey if thats a word.. hehe..
I try to get two of my oranges in a day, then you get your at least 16 oz of fluid if you make them 8 oz each I usually make them about 12oz water each.
SECRET, USING THE UNFLAVORED KOOLAID packets make nice flavoring change!
or you could buy those expensive syrups... that are sugar free, I dont like them, and my koolaid packs you can get strawberry add that to your vanilla protein shake and change the flavor to strawberry etc. etc..
its a cheaper way a new flavor and its really working for me cheaper then buying a ton of proteins you dont like, change the flavor instead of buying others.. like i started too.
time is a flying for sure!
Blessings
