I also got mine a couple of days before surgery. The nurses were really nice, they gave me pads to use and helped me wash up when I needed it. I had a hard time bending real good to get clean. I just told the nurse that I had it when I went in and they said that alot of women have the same problem and that it was no big deal.  Good luck on your surgery Monday. Cheryl

I did have a catheter.  I had complications and ended up in the ICU for 2 weeks and the catheter was in for most of that time.  It's not a big deal and wasn't bothersome.

I had a catheter while I was in the hospital, they put it in while I was under so I didn't feel it going in. When they took it out it didn't hurt at all, I think it came out on the second day. It was really nothing just a bag to take around with you.   I was so nervous the morning of surgery, I kept telling my husband that I can't do it and to take me home. I knew deep down that I wanted surgery but was just so scared. When they took me in the room to meet the Dr's I told them how I felt and they gave me something in my IV that made me so relaxed they could have done anything to me and I wouldn't have cared.   Now that it's all over I am so glad I did it and would recommend it to anyone who was ever thinking of having it.   I'm sure you'll do great and lose that 100 pounds!! Cheryl By the way, enjoy the bowel prep tomorrow ;)    It's not much fun, in fact I think it's the worse part of the whole surgery process, if you can get past that part the rest is a breeze.

May I ask what your complications were to put you in ICU for 2 weeks? I am also using Dr. Loggins and am hoping for a February surgery.

When I went in they had me get completely undressed, I couldn't even wear underwear. I wasn't having my period so it wasn't an issue and I had a different doctor but you might want to keep that in mind and bring a tampon just incase.

My complication was a blockage where the pouch met the intestines which required immediate surgery.  I then developed a severe infection that caused a high fever and rapid heart rate.  Dr. Loggins was terrific!!

Hi Shatcher, Thank GOD you're ok. I'm glad they found it quickly and I'm happy to hear you really like Dr. Loggins. The more I'm on this board the more comfortable I am that I chose him. Thanks for sharing.

I have had 4 Major surgeries in the last 2 years 3 back surgeries and my latest Dec. 10th and if I wasnt havnet my period, It started right after surgery with catherter, I DONT recommend a tampon ! until AFTER you wake up..  Talk to the  nurses and they will tell you best advice.. they gave me mesh panties to wear   like when you have a baby.. and a pad. they can cut them and dispose of them if needed..     Surgery for me induced my period, not to mention I have a blood disorder and had blood thinner issues as well. So I was blessed with a period and catheter many times. dont worry about any of that and  because of  increased risk of infection and irritation I would avoid the tampons ,  but to each his own.  stress  often will bring period sooner as well as surgery, its a normal thing for many women having surgery of many kinds..                 Blessings on your Big Day tomorow.  I  didnt have to have any bowel regiment for my RNY but just got a note in the mail I am due for my very first colonoscopy sooooooo. I will be blessed still yet. hehe.                   I am one month out thursday  and did well with walking walking  walking ,  didnt get any rest in hospital,  too noisy and too busy  and walking helped with pain.  all went wonderful, just follow rules  and  you'll be fine..  YOur in my prayers tonite...                Prayers of peace and comfort and quick healing..  Blessings  Allicca
