Diversions
Anyone got any good ideas.. I start my clear liquid diet tomorrow I just know I am gonna go bonkers without something to keep my mind occupied. I am a little scared ( normal I know ) . Surgery is scheduled for 12:00 Monday too much time to think yikes. Wish with the bowel prep they had a brain prep to to totally clean your thoughts lol. Only thing I got going for me it that I know this is the right thing to do for me.
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated
Kathy
Hi Kathy, i'm so happy for you. and can't wait for it to me my day. I recommend you make a few calls to some girl friends and spend the day shopping, and get caught up on laundry and like PInky said, get all your cooking for your family done early, so your not tempted. go watch the Mainiacs or some HS games. come home late and go to bed, heehe, I always go to bed early if i'm excited about the next day. Best of LUck and hurry back to let us all know how you made out. take care, Cheryl
Hi Kathy,
I agree with Lisa and the others. Occupying your mind and hands will keep you from dwelling on food. During my pre-op liquid diet, I was taking my mom to Chemo and we were eating out every day. I told myself that I was NOT going to cheat, no way, no how. My commitment to wls got me through. I made sure I had a protein shake with me or water and would actually sit there in the restaurant with my mom and sip on my drink. I kept myself from over-focusing on food, and actually didn't feel deprived at all. Positive self-talk can make a huge difference too.
You can get through it Kathy. The liquid phase is just for a short while, and you'll have a lifetime to enjoy the rewards of your commitment! Keep up the great work! I'm rooting for ya!
Blessings, Yvonne
