New Food Choices

Hi everyone! I am having a real hard time right now and I'm asking for all of the support that I can get with this one please. My whole life I've always been a very picky eater.  If I tried something once and I hated it I would never try it again.  Because of this I created some real bad habits by eating foods that we all know to be awfully bad (pizza) and eventually I ate my way into the obese state that I am in now.  Well now that I've had surgery I know how critical it is to consume foods that are the right choices for me but I'm having such a hard time keeping an open mind when it comes to the foods that I didn't like before and frankly this mind game that I play with myself all day long can be so powerful. Does anyone else know or understand what I am going through with all of this?  If you do, please offer me some advice on how to overcome this dilemma. Oh....the good news....officially today I'm down 32lbs!!!!!  WOOOOO HOOOOOOO!!!!

Congrats on the 32 pounds!!!  As for the food question I'm the other way I like just about anything. That's why I gained so much weight, I would eat anything. I've made pizza for myself after surgery. I use a small low carb tortilla, tomato sauce with low sugar and lowfat or nonfat cheese. I put the tortilla in a tart pan and pu**** up the sides and trim off the extra and then add your sauce and toppings. It's not to bad that way, the tortilla gets a little crispy on the sides so it also adds some crunch. I crave veggies right now. I make a meal and eat the protein first and usually don't have much room for the veggies.  Good luck, Cheryl

I too made very bad choices before I think probably we all did. One thing for me though is things that did not taste good to me before might taste very good to me now.  I love veeggies more, I am happy with a popcorn cake. You might try some of those things that you did not like before you may just find they taste good now. Good luck it is all about choices. Try if your hungry like for pizza which was a real problem for me. I do the low carb tortilla, sauce and cheese and veggies. If you can make it so you can have it you will not crave it so bad. An apple and peanut butter is good. I have a big family they eat the things I cannot. If I do my thing I do not feel deprived. For a dessert I once in a while have no fat cream cheese, mixed with some SF whip cream, now I put it in a graham crust but I have had it without crust, top with the no sugar added cherry pie filling. Start looking there are a lot more low fat, SF things out there.I also LOVE Hills brothers sugar free capiccino. It must have some caffine but not too much and it does not bother me. My treat is a cup of that with SF whip cream. Now I cannot feel deprived eating those. Pam
