I have read a lot of people on here being on a liquid diet like 2 weeks before their surgery. Is that so with all Drs.? I am scheduled for Jan 7th and have not been instructed to be on a liquid diet as of yet.  Anyone that has had Dr Loggins did he put you on a liquid diet before surgery?? Kathy

Kathy,     I'm but 5 months out of surgery with Dr. Loggins and I really can't recall being on a liquid diet for 2 weeks before. I recall being on it for just 2 days before. I remember being liquids the weekend before (along with the bowel prep on Sunday!). If I were you, to assure yourself that you're on the right track, call the office. I know  they'll be glad to answer your question and put you at ease. Anne

I can't answer you at all, (different surgery with different doctor) but I want to wish you luck with your surgery. I hear nothing but great things about your surgeon!

Yes, surgeons are different.  My surgeon (Dr Cobean) put his patients on a 2 week pre-op diet. It makes for a safer surgery when your liver has shrunken a bit.  He also does not do the nasty bowel prep that some surgeons make you do. Thank goodness!!

I had Dr. Clough he did not reguire even to loose any weight before. You have to do what your doctor tells you because they are all different. Good Luck, Pam

Hi! I'm three months post-op with Dr. Loggins (God, I love that man and his staff!!!!!) and I didn't do a 2 week diet. I've not heard of any of his patients having to do that (some surgeons do) and if he didn't say anything, then I wouldn't worry about it! you'll get a detailed packet of info when you go for your pre-op appt, along with training on the shots that you'll have to give yourself for 10 days afterwards. I did the 2 days liquid diet the weekend before surgery and then the NASTY bowel prep the day before. I'm not going to lie to you - it aint pretty!!!! but SOOOO worth it! Congrats on getting your date! You're in truly awesome hands!!!!

Hopefully you'll get your answer today - but your hubby should be able to give them to you. It's twice a day (12 hours apart). I will tell you that I am also VERY afraid of needles and somehow was able to give myself all 20 of them! It's SO important (it's blood thinner) and I just focused on that!
