Goodmorning everyone! My friend is thinking about having surgery with Dr.Jimenez, has anyone had surgery with him? Or met with him? She doesn't want to go to EMMC because she feels it's too far. She's also from Northern Maine.I know that EMMC, is a center of excellence but is she making the right choice by not choosing EMMC?It's really bugging me and I just want to know that she'll be ok. When I met him I was not pleased with him at all.  Nope..didn't like him one bit.  I've read comments on here where people say they don't like his bedside mannor...he's always rushed, etc.  I have to agree. However I did not have him as a surgeon (actually I haven't had surgery YET).  I haven't heard anything bad about Dr. Jimenez's surgery techniques.  I looked him up on the Maine State Licensing Board and there are no complaints.   I understand her not wanting to drive to Bangor all of the time.  If you look back in my posts I've weighed my options also.  I chose to go through EMMC this time.  One of my biggest resons is the reputation of EMMC AND the order in which they do things.  I don't get it but with Dr. Jimenez the first appointment you have is with him.  Then he gets approval from your insurance company and then they set up your appointments.  Hmmm.....my insurance company won't approve me until I've had those appointments so of course if I go to him again my surgery will be denied...AGAIN.

Hi Kimmie! I don't know anything about the doctor, but it's my understanding that one of the major criteria for being a "center of excellance" is the number of surgeries that are performed in a year. That is part of the reason small hospital don't get that designation. Candace
