Dr. Clough
I am curious as to what those of you who have seen Dr. Clough think of him. I am thinking about changing doctors. I am just not sure that I can loose the 97lbs. that Dr. Loggins wants me to loose before surgery and I was told that Dr. Clough will do the surgery on higher BMI's. Does anyone know the wait time to get in to see him? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I had Dr. Clough, he was great. He is right to the point, no beating around the bush, and he answers all your questions honestly!! I started with the sleep test last December, went to orientation in March, then all the other things, had my surgery in July, so from start to finish I would think would be around six months......maybe shorter.....

Regardless of who you choose they will require some weight loss. It's to assure a safe surgery. We lose viscular fat first which is the fat on our organs. By losing this fat it is heathier for us and safer for them do do the surgery. It also shrink the liver which is on top of the stomach. They have to move the liver to do the surgery and the smaller it is the easier it is to manuever. It's definately not to punish you. It's to make the surgery safer. Don't give up on Dr. Loggins. He has a wonderful staff and they are awesome to work with. Corinne the nutritionist will work closely with you and create a food and exercise plan for you. They are so awesome. You can call anytime and they will speak to you then or return your calls pretty quickly. Go to the nutrition class and also go to the orientation class too. There is a lot of great information there. You will also get a nutrition book at the first nutrition class. Read it from cover to cover. It has very valuable information in it. You will be successful. Don't rush the process. Be patient. We are all here to be healthier. Good luck.
I had Dr.Clough in July and I did not have to lose any weight before he did my surgery nor did he tell me I had too. the ones that told me I had to was Lynn or she suggested to everyone you should try to lose some. But never did he tell me I had to lose anything.
AWho told you that Dr. Clough reguires it..I would want to see him and talk with him personally he is a great doctor in and out. I would have him 100 times over again.

I called Northeast Surgery first at 795-5710 and they told me that I had to call the Surgical Weight Loss Program at EMMC and go through them. So I did and that's when I was told that the top BMI they take is 60. I even told her that I knew of a few people who had higher BMI's than 60 and she said that 60 is the highest they will do. So, I don't know.
Ok, on Monday, I will call back and talk to Dr. Clough's nurse. Anyone have the phone number to call?
