A little about me - I made the decision to have RNY WLS last June, I'm 51 and have had weight issues up and down the scales most of my life and I just don't want to live this way anymore. The past couple of years it has gotten to the point that it has severely restricted my qualitiy of life - mostly because of pain. I'm fortunate not to have any co-morbidities, but that is only a matter of time if I continued on this path. I met with my surgeon today and my insurance papers are being filed, so hopefully I'll be under the knife next month if all goes well.  I've been lurking on this site for many months now - so it feels like I already know some of you so I hope it would be ok if I hang around here. How many other Maine-ahs are there out there posting and lurking? Looking forward to meeting you all!!!

Hi, what happened with your meeting with your sugeon? I have Dr. Toder also and I just wanted to get an idea of what happens.  Did she give you an idea of how long it would be until you would have surgery? thanks kim

Hi Kim, She is great - she was a little intimidating at first, I think she was just testing to make sure that I was serious about this surgery and the changes that I will have to do. After a few minutes she broke into a bring grin, she is very nice. What I really like about her is that she is passionate about the surgery - she has operated on many people that work with me. My meeting only lasted for about 10 minutes - I was expecting it would be longer, but it was enough for me she answered all my questions. Some of the timing will be dependant upon how long your insurance takes to approve your surgery. My insurance usually approves within a couple of days after the papers are submitted. Based on this she is anticipating that I could have my surgery early in Jan.  If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask. Candace

Welcome to the board! Goodluck on your approval, Dr. Toder's office is great at getting approval, they got mine after a denial and appealed it without even telling me I got denied. I enjoyed not having that stress and I didn't even know about it until after their office told me I got approved, the next day the denial letter came.
