Allicca,I didnt know you can get maine care when you own a company or are self imployed ? I thought that was for people that are under income?

Hi Lynzey  Great question! I should of made the kind of maine care I have more clearer. I have MAINE CARE DISABILITY. I too wasnt aware of the different kinds and there different qualifications.  You need to apply for this exclusively., Its not the same as regular maine care..    It does have different guidelines for income,  I wasnt aware of it either until I had an advocate help me.   If you are disabled the income guidelines are different..   I am self employed and report my hours  and income to  the local social security  office  every 3 months.  I am allowed to work and earn so much  each month.             Since I REstarted my home based business up in the worst economy year in this decade, I havent been over income yet.          My overhead costs wich this year were and are the highest in history.    The commerical insurance , Plowing and heating, let alone supplies, of  parrafin wax wich is   extracted from crude oil, as well as  the synthetic fragrance oil based, has also hit an all time high,           Under income?  prior to this maine care disability ,  after my 3rd back surgery  and 36 day hospital stay, my husband worked and still does 60  + hours a week, and our family of 3 qualified, for regular maine care. for family of 3  we qualified with a gross pay check averaging 620.00 a week.   we were blessed by an advocate that figured it out for us, my husband went from 70 hours to 60 and we qualified.after 4 weeks.(reg. maine care) Yes my husband works too many hours. thats weekly.               I report everything always, this is a gift, healthcare is a huge blessing, Since I have qualified for my OWN disability now,  I pay 110.00 a month for maine care disability and my 16 year old daughter maine care, my husband doesnt qualify for any now. reg. maine care we are over income for.,           My daughters maine care is under a  HIPO  act - Cobra  like thing, for children under 18. as  because of my income we lost regular  mainecare as a family.      and she can get it for 18months  under this  I send the monthly payments to  Third Party Benefit Recovery Unit  Division of reiumbursment nd financial services Dept. of Health and human services 11 State HOuse station Augusta maine 04330-9930          There are some different kinds , sorry to be confusing..  but it is extremely, but soo worth the trouble..    My worker is Kelly Karkos at dept. of human services in Lewiston  office. 1-800-482-7517     I have nothing to hide.. God is good!  I was in tears when I  social security called to tell me I won case, because I was soo worried about losing my maine care. and having no insurance until my medicare.  and I just brought all our pay stubs in. and I  didnt lose it, (MY  husband did though)we went to this new kind. small monthly fee. In January  09 I will then get my own Medicare as I will be eligible for  after 24 months of disability eligibility.. and will purchase part d and supplemental coverage.              I am truly blessed to be alive and able to do a little something with my life, and Not ashamed to be collecting my own paid in social security benefits,   the pain I endure and the future spinal procedures I will have to endure, I am so blessed by the WLS and support and blessings of  healthcare,  I have about 80 pounds gone now off my spine  and hoping to prevent a spinal fusion.. and  decreased mobility.         Blessed to move! Praise God!  any one has questions i"ll try to be more clear , e mail me... specifically. I'll try to shorten it up.. bottom line I have  the Working Disabled catagory for maine care and send my payments to Payment center Department of Human services 11 high STreet HOulton Maine 04730-9970  I dont have a phone number for them but  you can call and ask  local DHS to apply for  maine care disability  its a total different application with different income guidelines. Blessings Allicca

I have Maine Care and Medicare and I go through Maine Medical Center Bariatric Center.

Dr. Roy Cobean -Casco Bay Surgery
10 Andover Road
Portland, Maine
(207)761-6642

MMC Bariatric Surgery Center
12 Andover Road
Portland, Maine
(207)761-5612

Dr. Cobean is with Casco Bay Surgery and takes patients from Maine Med Bariatric Center.  You have to go through the Bariatric Center first and you do need a referral from your primary care physician.

Dr. Wolf is with Casco Bay Surgery, however, I don't know too much about her other than she does bariatric surgery as well.
