Kimmie have you been in the program and had your first meeting with the nutitionist. You can email   Lynn boulduc and  she can answer any of those  questions for you. I know we were told at the begining that we needed to lose a little weight and not gain while were were waiting to see the surgeon.  If we had gained the doctor would not   operate till we had lost some. I lost  15 pounds in 7 months,  my friend who is very short  has to go with dr todar as  Dr lalor  does not do  big BMI patients yet. So she would have to lose another 25 pounds for dr Lalor. to operate.   But she has lost 15 and dr. todar will do her operation. Each doc is just a little different. Hope all is well  and hope this helps a little Patty P

Hi Kimmie, I was told by Amanda (Nutritionist for the program) that as long as I didn't gain any weight I would be ok.  They just want to make sure you are committed to the changes you will need to make after the surgery.  I just found out yesterday that I have my consultation with Dr. Toder on January 4th.  I am really excited but nervous at the same time.   Good luck to you on your journey!

Julie, how long did you have to wait (after completing your pre-op stuff) before you got your date to see Dr. Toder?  I'm just curious cuz I've just completed all my pre-op stuff and am wondering if I decide to go with Toder if I'll have to wait forever.  I know it's a lot faster to go with Dr. Lalor, but I'm not sure I'm comfortable going with the "new" surgeon.  Thanks for any info!

Hi Devin, I finished my pre-op appointments on November 23rd.  I called Lynn on November 27th to tell her I had my CPAP machine, she said she would call Northeast Surgery and schedule my appointment and I received my date in the mail on November 28th.  I asked Lynn if going with Dr. Lalor would speed things up for me any and she said he is running around the same time frame as Dr. Toder.  I think I will be more comfortable with her anyway.  Dr. Lalor seems very nice, but she has more experience.  Good Luck!

I have a appointment with Dr. Toder also in Jan. I originally wanted to go with Dr. Lalor, but my PCP and I talked and she said Dr. Toder was the best choice for me. I went along anyway and chose Dr. Lolar because I heard that his schedule is a faster  than Dr. Toder but my PCP in the end had the last say and scheduled me with Dr. Toder and I’m happy with the choice because from what I’ve heard she is a great surgeon. My last appointment with the nut was in November and I’m now scheduled to see Dr. Toder in early January so it’s a 2 1/2 month wait, but everyone might be different I don’t know how fast it would actually be until I get surgery, I’m hopping for late January early February. I've lost 5lbs so far in the 3 month, hopping to lose another 5 before I see Dr. Toder in Jan. Thanks everyone for your posts.

Thanks soooo much for all the info.  I am going with Toder.  Everyone seems to think she's the best!

For me they actually scheduled me to see Dr. Toder before I had even finished my pre-op stuff, I had to do a six month supervised diet, so I had to call and reschedule a month later. I think it really depends on what her schedule is like and how many people are going through the program right now. From what I can tell there seems to be a lot of new people trying to get in and while that is absolutely wonderful it's going to mean that the overall wait time is longer. When I went through they said to lose 10lbs. before your meeting with the surgeon. They will weigh you at your first nutrition meeting and then again when you have your surgeon consult. If you have gained weight they wont do the surgery but I think as long as you have lost some you will be fine. I was on a Dr. supervised diet with my PCP for 6 months before my surgeon consult with Toder and I lost 25 lbs. I then had a 2 month wait between my surgery and when I saw her, by my choice, I was in California for the summer, and I managed to maintain my weight for that two months which was great because if you gain between the time you see your surgeon and your surgery date there is a chance they wont operate. Congrats on going with Toder, I am biased to her, she's my favorite. She's a great surgeon and you wont be sorry you picked her.
