Trying different proteins BEFORE surgery?
I am much further ahead of my mom. I have sleep study and first appointment with Corrine next week. After Jan 1 I will have the psych eval and that is all I have left (dang insurance issue not kicking in until after the change in Jan). I am assuming I would have a second appointment with Corrine by mid-January....hopeing for a February surgery :)
My mom has her very first consultation with Dr. Loggins next Friday. So she will be at the beginning stages. It will be easier for her since she has already read my nutrition book etc. I really hope she does it (I know personal decision), but it would really help her health. Just the possibility of kicking her diabetes is enough for me to want her to really do it. She is mainly worried about all the hanging skin since she is 55 and would have no money to ever get any sort of cosmetic surgery. I said---you may have naging skin, but you will be halthy---and it would still be better on her back. And she was worried specifically about her knees and said 'I would never be able to wear shorts." I said "I don't remember the last time you wore shorts anyways since you always say you are too big for shorts" ha ha
I think seeing how excited I am about the process and all the info I have brought home has really made her want to do it.
Have you had the unjury? I heard about it but am not even sure what it is. I saw the any whey at gnc---just doesn;t seem like this stuff can really be unflavored.
Yeah - I bought some of that post-op at the suggestion of my NUT and the surgeon. Ewww! So gross! The punch was the best of the bunch - but they were all GROSS! Not too cheap either! Protein packed but I don't know WHY they taste like that!!!
My NUT suggested freezing them into popsicles and trying them that way! I just gave up on them and started using milk as a "protein drink" instead with SF Nesquick in it - that was pretty yummy!
Protein PRotein
I am on my liquid diet now and I have to agree, I have changed each day what I like and dont like and I am just pre op so .. a couple kinds are good
right now I love isopure mango peach powder, its pretty clear, dont pre mix it and let it set it gets thick mix it fre****s pretty good and 50 grams protein two scoops, so its even better to dilute these powders, most the protein powders serving size is 2 scoops well, if you just use the 1 scoop its more like flavored water
also heres what i do to kick it up a notch
I use basic vanilla from body fortress walmart for my meally one
I add either
those koolaid mix packs for 20.cents for flavor they are sugar free and i can change the flavor to a variety the orange makes a dreamcicle icy like
the hawian punch is like fruit smoothy
you get the idea
I also like
sugar free instant breakfast,
I also use the powders in my isopure,
I usually use skim milk with my vanilla protein for a thick meal like
and my isopure I use water, its just like flavored water, that way i get all my fluids in and i can add lemon flavor like above or strawberry and its allllllllll good
keep trying all
I did get my samples from bariatric .com
and I LOVE the nectars both were delicous, but mind you I am on just a liquid diet currently so things probally tastes a bit different after surgery..
but by changing the flavors it makes it much more economical
do the same to make hot chocolate, take a hot chocolate sf and add it to the vanilla protein, dont use 2 scoops break it up and its not bad at all.
hope this helps..
OH everyone I heard that you cant not absorb 30 grams of protein in an hour so those shots how are everyones labs?? soo best to even spread those shots out ...
Dont want anyone to waste the money HOw are the labs for bullet proteins coming back??
I'm going to call monday my dietician and ask her and will repost.
