Trying different proteins BEFORE surgery?
So I ordered the sample pack of protein mixes and drinks from bariatric eating. I was sooooo excited to see all the different forms and flavors. So I am wondering if I should try them all now before surgery so I can see what I like/don't like etc....or if I should save them for after? I am itching to try one right this minute ha ha.
If you got the sample pack from there before did you try a bunch early? Which ones were your faves?
I knew they did change for some people. But I wanted to at least have a few on hand to start with and go from there. My husband used to make protein shakes when he worked out and I seriously would have had to plug my nose to chug that gritty stuff down. So I figured if I found a few where the texture wasn't so bad and didn't taste horrible I would have one leg up :)
I know I need to get an unflavored one to have on hand (as per nutritionist), but no idea which one to get. I also want to have some of the "non powdered" ones. Have you tried the nectar ones at all?
I am finally getting in the holiday spirit. I mailed most of my cards out yesterday----I need to get stamps for the rest tomorrow. Thanks again for sending that---I am soooo excited to try some---even if I don't like them after. I don't think I would like the creamy tea either ha ha. There were 2 samples of the 42 gram bullets in there (3 ounces). Grape---not my favorite flavor and fruit punch. I hope to like those so I can get my protein in and not worry about it too much at first.
I can vouch for the tastes changing post-op. Corinne gave me some samples of Beneprotein and I thought that that ROCKED! I couldn't taste it etc. Spent almost 100 bucks on it - tried it post-op and it makes me sick. I can't even get it down, and what I CAN get down, comes right back up. YUCK-O! My roommate at the hospital bought like 75 bucks worth of Isopure liquid and it made her sick post-op too.
There's no rhyme or reason! Pick up some stuff to try - but PLEASE don't make the investment I did! :) Live and learn! LOL
Cool that your mom is pre-op too! How fun to go through it together. I have the opposite going on. My mom is seriously considering getting a referral to Dr. Loggins too!
The Beneprotein was my unflavored one. It TRULY tasted unflavored before surgery - now I can't even look at it! Blech! I got the samples from Corinne - if she doesn't give you any, let me know and I"ll mail you a few to try!
