I  got home  yesterday around  3pm  as we had to chase pharmacies for the right    liquid pain medicine, I  get a little  nauseated at times but not  bad and today i have more gas pains.   but i need to move the gas and i will feel better.   I am  eating protein shakes which i make with slimfast low carb and add a  protien unjury to it and a little ice.  I get two meals from this.  But now i tired of chocolate gonna have custard made with splenda tonite  or tomato soup. I am doing  good  and will take one day to a time. Take care  love to all   gl to all who have surgeries coming right up. Patty P

Patty,  It is good to hear that you are home and doing well.. As for the gas pains-- Keep moving.. I was walking non stop.. And that helped tremendously! But remember to take it easy too.. I found it was a hard balance because I wanted to get out and get moving and going, but I needed to take it easy because I had just had a major surgery..  As for your menu... Ya, I am a little puzzled by that too.. I know that every surgeon is different. I was on pure liquids for the first 2 weeks, and then pureed for 2 weeks.. and so on.. So.. Just take it easy! I don't want anything to happen But I am sure it won't as long you follow Dr's orders !  Keep us updated! Tarka

Welcome back, Patty P!!  I am assuming your surgery went without a hitch?!  That is wonderful!  You are doing great. I had no problems with Protein, unfortunately I wasn't aware of the low carb slimfast until my 2nd or 3rd month.  It would have been great. The gnc protein and unjury to me were nasty but I got them down. I don't know if I could even drink one now, just the smell alone of a protein shake makes me nauseous (sp?)  I couldn't handle tomato soup though, due to the acid.  But Low Sodium Chicken broth tasted devine. Give that a try too.  I hear Unjury has a chicken broth with protein, but I haven't tried it.  I now swear by the profect liquid protein or the New Whey liquid, although it is more expensive.  Check it out at www.bariatriceating.com or  www.profect.com  I should get commision from them as I recommend it so much to people.  Some think it is way too sweet but I don't.  Beware of the isopure, it has a wicked nasty after taste.  Keep in touch!

Yay! I am so glad to hear from you and that your surgery went well! Mmmm...protein shakes, that carnation instant breakfast mix they gave me in the hospital my last day was fabulous and the first time I had soup was grand as well. I ate a lot of the healthy request chicken broth so I would recommend that I ate a lot of sugar free jello and pudding in my first two weeks but I caution with that that you make sure you are limiting what you eat because sometimes I felt I probably ate too much but couldn't feel it due to the nerve damage in my pouch. Anyways, so glad to hear you are well! Welcome to the losers bench!

Wonderful news! Welcome to the loser's bench! Isn't it much more comfy than you pictured it? LOL I'm also puzzled about your eating custard and soup- I was on pure liquids only for 2 weeks (same surgeon as Tarka). Be sure you're following docs orders and don't pu****! (I know it's easier said than done! ) I also agree with Tarka about the moving. I know it's difficult but it'll get those pains moving. Also, you could be constipated ... I didn't poop until I stopped taking the pain meds. Those do a number on you! Hope you're feeling better soon - don't hesitate to call your doc if you think the pain is too bad, ok?

I was served a regular meal in the hospital.  Needless, to say Dr Cobean has changed this!  The only thing I ate was the SF Egg Custard.  It tasted devine!  No problems at all.   From now on, they are making sure patients are only given liquids in the hospital.

Congrats on having your surgery with no problems. I hope it continues. I can't remember if I was allowed the tomato soup etc... right off or if I had to wait 2 weeks. I think it was allowed right from the time I got home. I had my surgery in Bangor and they do the menus  A LOT different than others. I use the whey protein mixed with a carnation instant breakfast to get my protein in; doesn't taste too bad. And gee I didn't know about the low carb slim fast lol... will have to check that out. Take care and remember we are all here for you if you have any questions.
