I was very excited to get an appointment to see Dr. Jimenez.  Unfortunately the appointment isn't until March. I don't really want to go clear to Bangor to have surgery but I just might after all. I'd like to hear from people that have had surgery in Bangor...I'm mostly interested in Dr. Clough. Did it take long to get in to see him?  How long after insurance approval was your surgery?

It takes about  4  to six months  to get thru the program.   Aftter  you  see the surgeon  and get insurance approval it takes  4  to 5 weeks to get an operating room.   Might be a little  less now but  on Oct  21  the closest   date for me was NOvember  21  which is the one I took after that it was   the last week of November. I got right in to see Peter Lalor and i like him very much.  Not sure how long to get in to see  Dr. Clough. Hope this helps. patty

Hi Pam. I noticed in your profile that you saw Dr. Clough AFTER seeing the dietician. My doctor first sent me to see the surgeon first. Please tell me how your events unfolded.....did your primary doctor send you to the dietician or did Dr. Clough's office make sure you did that first?  What about the psycologist?  Did you see one also?  Can you give me a time line of your appointments and stuff? The reason I chose Dr. Jimenez is because of making the 4 hour trip down to Bangor and I don't have anyone with a drivers lisense to take me to and from surgery.  I really don't want to go by Cyr Bus.  I'll have to find out about driving myself.  I imagine I wouldn't be able to because of meds.

My pcp sent in my name to the weight loss clinic. I had to do 2 appointments with the nutrtionists, go to 1 support meeting, one sleep apnea study, one physcologists test, 1 physical therapists appt, all before I saw Dr. Clough. They are good about getting them all close together for people who had to drive from far.

Hi  again My  primary care  physician  sent me to  the   Weight Loss clinic here in Bangor. that is who  our surgeons work with. After the informative   lecture  we then needed to attend  a support group meeting. Depending  when you  do that.   It took me   two weeks to get in to see the physical therapist and another week to see the dietician Then a  month to see the psychologist and then  two months to go to the sleep apnea clinic. By that time from May it was now  september.   I then met with the surgeon end of   september  and  i then waited for my insurance company for three weeks  to approve.   After they approved i then got my date for surgery. Not sure if that helps  but bangor is a Center of Excellance for bariatric  surgery  so they have a protocol to go thru. I wish you the best of luck.    Patty p

I had Dr Clough and it didn't take long to get in to see him at all. I did have to complete the first informational class, a support meeting, psychologist,  sleep study and nutrition class first but after that I got right in to see him.  The Weight Loss People that handle it all schedule all your appts and when done you see Clough.  He wasn't as friendly as others lead me to believe but I will take a doctor like Clough with his experience any day! I believe I was from insurance to surgery 2 1/2 months. Hope this helps.
