I now have my 6 months medically supervised diet program done and I still cannot lose the 23 lbs I need to lose to have surgery.  I have only lost 3.  I have tried everything Corrine says and the scale just isnt budging.  I feel like just not eating period in order to get this poundage off.  It is just so discouraging.  The latest thing that we are trying is no weight training at all only cardio.  I do cardio every day sometimes I walk 2-3 times a day and it just doesnt seem to matter. I am at my wits end.  Anyone else been in this situation and fought their way through it or have any suggestions for me?  Thanks.  Missi

May I ask why you have to lose 23 lbs to have surgery?  Is it because of the insurance or the doctor?  Your BMI doesn't look that high.

I'm sorry your feeling depressed.  Make sure to keep your diary, that keeps me on track.  Are you eating enough protein?  I've been having a hard time to lose too and get very depressed, I've only lost a few pounds. Have you been to the support group they have great suggestion there also.  If you need support just drop me a line.  Keep trying, when you do start losing it probably will come off fast.

Hi Missy,  Try not to get too discouraged.  I wasn't required to lose a certain amount, I just couldn't gain any from my 1st appointment forward.  Do you keep a food journal?? And also, try and stay away from Soda and Sugar.  I lost 20 lbs just from cutting both of these out pre-op.   Don't worry, you will get there!!

Missi, I was wondering the same thing why do you have to loose for insurance or doctor??? Thank God i did not have to do that. I had Dr. clough in Bangor and he did not weant me to gain and to loose what I could but I only lost 15 lbs.

Hi, Thats a bummer but if you eat less calories and excersize you have to lose weight.I havnt had to do that 6 month thing but for example they say you can have 1200 cal. try less then that.try 1000 or less.

I have to lose 23 lbs per the surgeon.  The first place that you lose weight from is your internal organs and since they have to move the liver in order to do the surgery, losing weight makes the liver easier to deal with.  Thank you for all of you suggestions, I am currently doing them all.  If I dont lose any soon though, I am just going to go on the liquid diet to lose.  I want my surgery before the end of the year. I doubt it will happen but one can always be hopefully.  Thank you all for you support.  Missi

Hi Missi,     Have you had your thyroid checked recently?   Just wondering if there may be a medical reason why the weight isn't coming off.   Keep your chin up.  A positive attitude can really help get you through the tough spots.  I'll keep you in my prayers.   Blessings, Yvonne
