I was wondering if you guys use any unflavored protein in your crystal light, soups etc.  Do you use liquid kind or powder kind? I am in the pre-surgical process now and looking for recommendations for the unflavored protein.  I am getting them sample pack from bariatric eating for flavors to try.   I would love to find something that can easily be picked up at GNC or something.  Then I can ask santa for some for Christmas :)

I tried the Unjury during my first month postop in some soup... it doesn't blend well and I even made sure the soup wasn't too hot... But I felt it tasted like paste and I never tried it in anything else.  The only ones I can tolerate are the New Whey, Profect and also the Proteinex-18.   I also tried Isopure, it comes in many flavors and is 40 grams in one bottle.  It has a nasty aftertaste and I feel like it coats my throat with a nasty film.  Unfortunately, I have 10 more bottles of the icky stuff. Totally not worth the money...I will probably bring to the next support meeting in Scarborough, for anyone interested in trying the Isopure.

RNY on 11/21/07 with
i use the  whey protein  from Sams Club.  It is the chocolate kind and i mix it in slim fast for preop. i find it  mixes well in the blender or my  shaker.  I also have the unjury strawberry  that i mix with  vanilla slimfast and that is fine too.  I add a few ice cubes to them to  make them good and  cold/ I havent tried the chicken soup unjury  but i have heard it was good so i am gonna try that. I also will order the unjury   unflavored protein powder  this week will let you know how that is. Take care patty

I used the unjury.  depending on what you're mixing it with it can slightly change the flavor.  I used a half scoop instead of a whole one.  I've mixed it with chicken broth, pudding, yogurt, and soup.  You can ask your nut or your surgeon for samples before you buy.  Best wishes, Ann

Thanks everyone for the suggestions!  I am so thankful to have found this board---you all are so nice...and inspiring.  I would love to pay for the shipping or whatever if you have extra you are not using.  I am trying to figure out an unflavored one that I can put in a drink---so I thought a liquid one would work best.  Of course I have never seen liquid or powdered protein--so I am assuming the liquid is like the clear kind and not like the mily looking kind. For Christmas I asked for a GNC giftcard so I can try some of those bullet things out that everyone talks about.  That seems like a great easy way to make sure you get your protein in. Hey---have you heard of protein popsicles??  Corrine mentioned that they would be getting samples in the office soon.  Now I can do a popsicle :) Thanks!
