Hi Everyone!

Hi everyone! I wanted to introduce myself because I am another newbie here!  My name is Cathy and I have been looking at this website that I consider to be a life-saver for quite some time now.  I have been in the WLS program at EMMC in Bangor since August of this year.  I've gone through all of the appointments so far and finally met with my surgeon last Thursday.  Dr. Peter Lalor is going to be my surgeon and I must say that this guy is fantastic!  I went in to the appointment with my mom and husband and man if I were a doctor I'd find it VERY intimidating walking into a room not knowing anyone in there and feeling at ease.  He was so kind and friendly and took all the time I needed for all of my questions.  I thought for sure he'd freak when I pulled out my notepad with two pages worth of questions.  He didn't.  Not only did he take the time to answer ALL of them and made sure I understood everything, he also took the time to answer my mom and husbands questions.  We were in there a total of an hour and a half and the minute I met him all of my nerves calmed down and I was instantly at ease.  Plus, it helped that the was wearing a Boston Red Sox tie!!!  Go SOX! Anyways, I am in the current stages of waiting to hear whether or not my insurance is going to approve my surgery.  Keeping fingers, legs, arms, toes, and eyes crossed for the approval.  I do have to say this process has really tested my patience at times, but all in all, I'm glad that there is a process to go through.  This is HUGE and I'm not taking WLS as something small and insignificant.  I've been told that some people want surgery to happen yesterday, but for me I reall want to go through every step that I need because I know that each opportunity provides me with lessons to be learned and experiences to be shared.   I appreciate the stories, experiences, trials and tribulations that have been shared on this forum and I look forward to getting to know many if not all of you throughout my own journey and if anyone would like to contact me, please feel free to do so. Hi  Sunflower3 I also  am at  emmc  the program people have been wonderful.   I also am  going with  Dr. Lalor. He  made me feel at ease when i met with him.  I do have my date it is November 21. I have been following w w diet  and now started the liquid diet early as i am going away to my sisters this weekend and  will not be as good.    I  live in  clifton and  drive school bus.   I hope you  get your date soon.  My fingers are crossed.   It took over a month to get my date as EMMC  is  very busy.  But i took the first available one and it works good because i am off that week from school. This has been a  journey but i am ready to begin the rest of my life a whole lot lighter. Take care Patty   aka Micbrook

Thanks for the welcome!  I just called the insurance company and they haven't received anything yet!  I was told that it should only take 2 business days for them to make a decision.  I hate waiting!!!  How did you like the staff at Dr. Toder's office and the staff on the surgical floor after your surgery at EMMC?  Thanks,  Cathy

Hi Everyone! Thank you all for the warm welcome.  I really appreciate everyone's well wishes. Well, I already know I posted this, but I MUST shout if from the rooftops.  I WAS APPROVED.  AND MY SURGERY IS SCHEDULED FOR 12/14/07!!!!!!!

I cannot believe it.  My journey began on August 3rd and here it is November 9th and I've been approved and my surgery is scheduled and every appointment is done and over with.  I am so thrilled.  I've been running around my house on cloud nine and calling everyone I know filling them in on my good news!  I've had an awful week and this was just what I needed!

I'm thinking of sending a box of Wheaties to my surgeon the day before surgery to make sure he's all set to operate!!!  :)
