Sleep Study
For our center, sleep studies are not part of the normal testing. They will schedule you for a sleep study if you are tired all the time, don't sleep well, know that you quite breathing while your sleeping, or for a variety of other fatigue and sleep related issues.
I had a sleep study, but only because my first insurance company wanted to see specific co-morbidities that I didn't have and sleep apnea was one of the comorbities on their "approved" list. However, I didn't have sleep apnea. The process is painless, but I didn't sleep much with all the wires they put on.
If your Dr. didn't order one, then he must not feel it's necessary. If you think you might have sleep apnea, then you should mention it to him.

The sleep test is a breeze. The first visit is an office visit where they ask questions to see if you actually need the test. They set up a test date. I have to show up about a 1/2 hour early so they could wire me up. I didn't sleep great and the only info they gave me was my O2 levels looked great. I have my third visit on Nov. 1st for the results of the test. If they think you have sleep apnea they will wake you up and put the cpap machine on. Then it's a matter of adjusting it for your needs. I did not need the cpap so assume I don't have sleep apnea.
