I try to go, but I work til 3:30. If the OR is slow I might be able to go. I already go to planet fitness and I do a hip hop class on Thursday nights thats really fun way to exercise. I am curious about it though. I will really try to get out early.  Maybe I will see you there. Cristy

Hi Cristy,  I am thinking of joining Planet Fitness myself. I am wondering if you are pleased with it? I've never joined a gym before and so I am looking for a place that is non judgemental and inexpensive. Any thoughts? Take care, Lori  P.S. I'm considering making my first appt. with Dr. Loggins within the next month or so just to see what my options are and get further information on WLS.

Planet Fitness is very inexpensive. Its only 10 dollars a month or 20. Two different plans to choose from, one has tanning. The people that go there are all different sizes and sometimes I am the biggest one there and of course I think that EVERYONE is looking at the "fat" girl exercise, but then I have to remind myself that is why I am there becase I have let myself get fat!!! Most people have their ipods in or they are watching the tv's so I know that in reality they aren't  staring at me. I go around 3:30/4 in the afternoon and its not really busy and they have a good amount of cardio equipment.  Dr. Loggins is a great surgeon. I have not had surgery yet but I do work in the OR at CMMC and have seen first hand his surgical technique and compared to other local surgeons his is far superior, but that is just my opinion. Do you live in Lewiston Loris? I actually have the 20 dollar plan at planet fitness and you can take someone for free everytime so if you would ever like to try it out  for free before you decide just let me know. That goes to anyone else out there that would like to go to the gym. Im ALWAYS looking for a workout partner!!!  They also give you a free personal training session on all the equipment and what you should do so you won't feel as lost. Corinne the nutrionist for Dr. Logginss program also attends there. Hope to see you there or hope that you find someplace that you are happy exercising.  Cristy

Hi Cristy,  I would LOVE to check out Planet Fitness sometime--maybe meet you there or whatever! It sounds like it would definitely meet my needs at this time! And yes, I do live in Lewiston--although right now I am visiting a friend in Canada but I'll be home in a few weeks.  So...working in the O.R. you get first hand knowledge of the doctors and nurses pretty much. I'm glad that you feel Dr. Loggins is a great surgeon! I had my gallbladder out last November--first surgery ever and the doc I'd originally lined up to do it (Dr. Baxter) left the practice and so I had another doctor. I never saw him after the surgery--and when I went to have my staples removed, it was yet another doctor. The thing that would concern me with the WLS is remembering how difficult a time I had healing from simple gallbladder surgery. I'd heard people say they were up and around in a matter of days. I had trouble with an incision opening up and I was really slow healing. I'd say it was about a month before I felt back to normal! Anyway, I'm getting long winded here lol. Thanks again for the info and the offer! Lori

I had hoped to be able to attend some of Corrine's exercise classes but, because they are held on Wednesdays, I'm afraid I can't....at least until after the first of the year. I have classes at the university on Wednesdays this semester. Things may very well change next semester but I'll only know for sure on the 7th of November when I register for next semesters classes. In the meantime, I'm using the Leslie Sansone Walk at Home DVD that I bought a few weeks before surgery. Showed it to Corrine and she even borrowed it to "test it out" She then mentioned it at the next post-op meeting.  It will certainly be a big help this winter when I want to walk but not have to plow my way threough the snow !
