Does the surgey really curb your hunger?
I have a question for all of you who have already had the surgery. Does it really curb your hunger? I know you can't eat as much because you stomach is much smaller---but do you actually feel full and not hungry?
That is my biggest problem. I truly don't eat that bad at all---my portions are not under control though. I can have a big healthy dinner---and when I am done think....did I just eat, because seriously doesn't even feel like it?!
I have lost weight a million times---I know I can lose it, I just can't seem to keep it off---and I know my 'hunger' feeling has verything to do with it. I swear my stomach must be the size of a basketball or something----I don't think I have ever felt 'stuffed.'
I am really hoping it does curb the hunger feeling.
Being a little over two months post-op. I'm one that can say that yes, I have to remind myself to eat! There are days I have no problem getting my meals and there are others where, I just don't feel the need to stop whatever I'm doing to eat. I've got to keep reminding myself that my body does need what little food I do put in it to keep functioning correctly. Once I do sit down for a meal, I don't find myself even giving thought to a "second helping." either. I use a smaller plate, take what I'm allowed , and don't look back. Don't feel deprived either. My husband still asks me if I "want any more" before he polishes things off. Once the question leaves his mouth, He is so full of apologies that I almost have to laugh!
That's how I feel. I'm sure many others feel the same.
Take care!

Nope! Dr. Loggins must use a magic wand as part of his tools in surgery because how unhungry I feel it MUST be magic! The hungriest I've felt is in the morning when I first wake up and it's that kind of "yeah, I could eat" feeling! I've NEVER felt like I was actually hungry enough to notice it and eat! (At least not yet - just shy of 4 weeks out!
Well I am 13 months out and I am just now feeling hungry. And now when I am hungry I can eat a cup of something or a peice of fruit and I am full. You do have some head hunger but I have learned the difference between what I want in my mind. BUT every once in a while I eat some crackers maybe a few more than I should. But it has deffinately changed my eating even as to what I want and am satisfied with. Everyone is different. But it sure has helped me.
Unfortunately, I have to say that I'm one of the ones who is still hungry post-op. Even so, the amount of food you'll be able to consume post-op and the results of eating one spoonful too much, will keep you from overeating.....at least to start with. You CAN stretch your pouch back out, so you have to be careful and set up good eating habits for the long-term. But the good news is that from what I've read & heard, most post-op patients are NOT hungry for at least 6 months. But I'm living proof, that there's always one odd one in the bunch! LOL Blessings, Yvonne
As of yesterday I am 4 weeks out and have lost 44 pounds...The only time I find myself somewhat hungry is supper time and thats not every day. It amazingly does take your hunger away. Breakfast and lunch I have to make myself eat because I don't feel hungry and therefore just dont want to eat. I hope this helps.
