Hi everyone! I have been reading your posts, waiting for the ball to get rolling for myself.  I recently had my first appointment with Dr. Loggins and have been busy doing a bunch of testing and lab work.   I will get to 'my story' in the profile at some point.  I recently had b/g twins (in April) so things are pretty hectic around here. Anyways, I wanted to say hi and I look forward to contributing to the board and all of your advice and support.  I will be attending the 10/22 nutrition class. I am excited to start my journey.

welcome to the group..it is a long journey from start to surgery date, but it is all worth it in the end.. there will be alot of bumps along the way just keep your chin up and march on,, I think that is what we have all done and still do for the rest of our life because it is a new life after surgery to learn what you can eat and what you can tolerate and some times what you could tolerate one day you wont the next. In the end it is all worth every thing you go thur just to get healthy and feel better about yourself, that is the biggest wow moment..  Congradualations on the twin girls..  Barb

Congrats! Dr. Loggins did my surgery a little over 3 weeks ago and I can't say ENOUGH about him and his staff! I'm so excited that you'll be using him ... he really is FABULOUS! Congrats on the little ones too! I have an 11 month old son - I can't imagine having TWO of them! :) Welcome to the board! Shoot me a message if I can answer any questions about Dr. Loggins' process etc! - Summer

How long did the process take you before you got a date?  I have done the bloodwork, EKG and am going for the chest xray Friday morning.  The only thing I will have left is the sleep study and of course losing some weight.  Oh yeah---and waiting on insurance approval---which I hope is not the worst part :) Have you found any liquids that yu are loving right now--with enough protein?  I want to maybe incorporate some into my pre-op weightloss and have no idea where to begin.  I have had protein shakes before that I could barely gag down....soooo chalky.   Cpngrats on your weightloss!  It is soooo great how much you have lost already!  I really am excited about possibly having this surgery so I am able to have an even greater experience raising these two little bambinos :)

Sorry I didn't see this sooner! :) You're still early in the process, but it can really move quickly or take a long time! It's hard to say! When is your psych eval? When do you meet with the nut? Corinne is the nutritionist and I absolutely love her. I know some folks have found her to be "tough" - which is true, she's strict. But she's just doing her job. You'll attend a 3 hour group class with other pre-ops and any support people they want to bring. I brought my mom. (Hubby was home with the baby) She'll give you lots of great info and a little spiral bound book I'm still using today. She'll send you home with a little fill in the blank journal where you'll fill in everything that you eat or drink for the next 2-3 weeks. After that you'll have a one on one appt with Corinne. You'll take a quiz that you have to pass (but you can use your book and I found it really easy) and then she'll go over your food log and give you a folder full of all KINDS of stuff - info, recipes, excercise stuff, discounts for gyms etc. She'll give you a goal calorie range (mine was 1200-1400 calories a day, with atleast 48 ounces of fluid and 60 grams of protein) and you keep logging for another 4-5 weeks until you see her again. You can't get sent out for insurance approval until Corinne clears you for surgery, which she won't do until she thinks you're ready. There's no set time limit. I saw her twice individually, but the girl that I shared a hospital room with met with her for a year! (I think that's extreme though - I had no problems ... I just did exactly what she told me to do. Nothing more and nothing less!) The NUT part was the longest part of the process. It really depends on when she thinks your ready and when you lose most of that 10 percent! As far as protein drinks go - I never DID end up finding one that worked for me. What was ok before totally didn't work after. I've substituted simply smart milk with SF nesquick as a kind of "shake" alternative. It's 11 grams of protein in 8 ounces. Not awesome, but not awful! I had Anthem for insurance and haven't had any problems with it! They approved me in 48 hours and the following day, Crystal called me with a date ... that was just 10 days away! Hope it all goes as smoothly for you! Feel free to shoot me a message if I can answer any Dr. Loggins specific questions. He's my hero!

Welcome Aboard!  By the sounds of things, you won't have any trouble getting in the exercise part of the program.   2 lil' ones can keep you hopping for sure!     Good Luck on your journey!  I hope you'll become a fixture here and keep us posted on your progress.   Blessings, Yvonne

I definitely am ghetting my exercise just running back and forth between the two....and they haven;t even started crawling yet.  I thought after the pregnancy the weight would fly off since I am so much more active now than I was before---no such luck!

Crawling is one thing ... but wait until they start pulling up and cruising all around the living room furniture! That's my son's latest "trick"! LOL
