you go girl!!  Great job!! I would be happy with 180 but I gather that I am probably taller than you. I am 5' 6" and my "normal" weight is between 145 and 160.   I lost another 3 lbs this week for a total of 93.8 lbs since my first appointment in Feb. I still have over 100 lbs to lose.

No, I don't have a problem with protein. Thankfully!  But personally, I have stopped drinking the protein powder shakes. They are just nasty.  I live on the profect and IDS Whey liquid protein.  Yeah they are a bit expensive but no more expensive when I was eating normal and eating out all the time.  They are SO much easier to swallow.  And the protec ones are quite good. Fruity flavors.

Congrats on the great work and weight loss Barb!!!!  I can't imagine me getting to the 190's (like your 180's) so I can imagine how excited you are.  I drink my protein in my carnation instant breakfast sometime during the day and I don't have problems with it...don't care for it but I can get most of it down.  Wish I had a credit card to get some of that stuff off the net that others can get.  You keep up the good work!!!!  Hugs...

Congratulations Barb!!!   Your doing great!    It seems we're running at about the same pace but your still in the lead!!  LOL  I'm down 54# this morning when I weighed in at 187.2.   It still doesn't quite seem real to me or like I've accomplished much.   I keep telling myself that I'll really know it's real when I get below 165, which is the lowest I'd been since having children.  Guess everyone has their own milestone.   I can definitely relate to your protein drink aversion!  I try again every now & then because I could really use the protein.  Their not great tasting to start with but coming back up they taste even worse!  So what are you doing to get your protein in?   Are you doing well with high protein foods like chicken, etc.? Thanks for letting us share in your happiness!  What's your next goal ?   Blessings, Yvonne

Hi Yvonne, Congradulations to you on your weight loss, we are right there together and we are both doing well.. you have had alot more problem than I have I hope all is well now.. I am excited to be able to notice my weight loss myself..I am feeling better and looking better in MY eyes.. As for the protein shakes I dont like them.. they told me it ok but I need to get more protein in, I can not eat chicken. But I cooked a chicken in the fix it and forget it. I could eat some of it as long as I let it set and get the grease off. I have been able to eat hamburg and steak but the last 2 time i ate it I got sick. No on that right now.. Fish really works good (haddock). But I really still like Ravioli..settles the best of anything I eat. I am going grocery shopping tonight they give me a new book sample foods ideas from the NUTRISH. so I will try her ideas.  I lost 5% of muscle since last time i was there Not good but I know I need more protein. Wish there was a protein pill I would take it or at least try it.. My next goal is to get off my sleep machine and the pain in butt doc said that wont be until I weigh 170lbs.. My real goal is to get to 160lbs ... I gave my dad my treadmill after his heart surgery 1 year ago so he could exercise now without tellling him I am going to buy another treadmill because winter is coming and I want to beable to walk more. Hope that will help with the muscle loss.. Have you hear anything about muscle loss? Have a great day Barb

Hi Barb,    It always amazes me how different the rules are for each surgeon & center.  We were told no red meat for 6 months because it is harder to digest.  However, rules are made to be broken, especially in situations where your looking for just about anything that will stay down.      I laughed when you wrote that ravioli settles best for you.  Tomato sauce, hamburger....all the things we should avoid!  lol  My hubby made some spaghetti last week and I decided to try some.  It tasted great and even stayed down too!  So I had it again the next day.  Oddly enough, spaghetti has never been a favorite of mine and eating it once a month was more than enough before surgery. Now,  I've had it twice so far and my hubby is making it for me again tonight.  I told my Dr. and he said whatever works, since keeping anything down at all has been a challenge for me.       On Friday I face another EGD....my 3rd.  The one last Friday has made things go down even harder, for some unknown reason, so they will check to see what's happening when they do the next procedure.   Truthfully, I'm really praying it will be the last thing I have to have done for things to finally be "normal".       Is your final goal to reach 160#?  If so, then you are definitely taller than I am!  LOL  I'm one of those short, round, pumpkin types!  Well maybe I'm more of a dwarf pear right now!  LOL   My final goal is to reach 117# but it will depend on how I feel as I get closer to those lower numbers.   I don't care so much what the number is as long as I feel good mentally & physcially.  As for short term goals....it's sorta hard for me to set any with never knowing if I'll be able to keep food down or not.  If I eat, I lose weight.   If I vomit, I don't lose and sometimes I even gain weight.  They say it's your body protecting itself by putting your metabolism in starvation mode.      Have you checked with your Dr. & Personal Trainer about exercising?  You can cause more muscle damage and muscle loss if you are exercising without enough protein in your system.  Be sure to check to see what the minimum protein level is for you, in order to exercise without doing more damage.   At the moment my body is healed enough to exercise but my protein levels aren't high enough.  I can definitely tell too.  I don't have near the strength or endurance that I had pre-op.  There are days when I don't even keep down 10 grams of protein, let alone the 70 grams I need.  But the only thing you can do is keep trying.   I thought that if I could just get back to exercising, I would regain some strength and muscle tone, but the Dr. actually told me that I could end up doing more damage, so I have to hold off until I'm doing better protein wise.      Are you taking your supplements yet?  The nurse at my Bariatric Center suggested gummy vitamins.  Have you tried them?  I'm assuming they are like gummy bears and the only time I tried them, they pulled a filling out of one of my teeth!  LOL!  What a sight I could end up being....no protein, no hair, no teeth, but I could gum a gummy vitamin!  LOL!!!!    Don't forget to share any good recipes you come across.  Especially if they have protein in them!  I think we could all use some!   Keep the faith! Blessings, Yvonne
