EGD
I had my 2nd EGD (Endoscope with Gastric Dialation) yesterday and have been feeling really ill today. Still vomiting, etc. Supposedly things should be alot better now since they enlarged the anastomosis, but I almost think things are worse (if that's possible). I'm having a hard time with pudding & liquids, let alone any harder foods.
The Dr. also told me that I will need to have a 3rd EGD next Friday (10/19). He believes it will be better to have more dialations with less inflation each time. The 1st EGD dialation was to 9mm w/ a pedi-scope. Yesterday's dialation was to 12mm w/ an adult scope. Usually 3 EGD's is the max for this issue, but now I'm worried they are thinking it could take more. He also mentioned the possibility of laser cutting or surgery to correct the stricture permanently. UGH!!! I guess I'm having one of those days of feeling "when will this ever end?!". I'm two and a half months out and things are still not right.
Okay, I'll stop whining! LOL Thanks for letting me vent. And thanks for listening.
Blessings, Yvonne
Yvonne~ I so hope you get on the road to recovery very soon. You give so much faith and inspiration to so many on here and you deserve to feel good. I can see why you are having a bad "day", and I don't know that I would handle it as well as you are. Please hang in there and keep the faith that you will be feeling better soon. Hugs...
Thanks for your encouragement, Netti. This journey has been much longer than I expected and on most days, I can keep the faith. But there are some days when I just don't have the patience to deal with all this.... Thank God he has plenty to spare and shares it with me!!
I was hopefull today would go better, but I've been vomiting since I tried to eat one oz. of SF Pudding for breakfast. Even the crushed ice isn't staying down. I'm going to keep trying though. I have to make a trip to Vermont & back tomorrow and need to be able to drive without vomiting. It's 10 hours of driving time, so it would be nice if I could eat & drink something little along the way. Please pray things will be better tomorrow.
Thanks again for your encouragement!
Blessings, Yvonne
Hi Yvonne,
Thanks for posting this complication. I am pre-op and am aware of these complications but it's helpful to know what you're going thru. I hope it gets resolved soon and you're feeling more like yourself. I'll send positive vibes to you for a quick recovery.
Stay positive. They say it will get better.

Hi Lisa,
I can use all the positive vibes I can get, so please keep sending them my way! LOL
I hope you won't let the complications that I'm going through scare you. The majority of people go through surgery fine and don't have any major issues afterward. Just look at the members here and you'll see very few who are dealing with complications post-op. Unfortunately, there is the "possibility" and I fell under that statistic. With that said, I will be truthful and tell you that dealing with these complications has not been a picnic!
Knowledge is power, so the more you know about what "will" or "won't", "should" or "could" happen, the better. Good Luck on your weight loss journey. Your definitely at the right website. Everyone here is awesome!!
Blessings, Yvonne
Yvonne, you are so sweet. You definately have not changed my mind on having the surgery. I know this is the best thing for me to do even with the chance of complications. If I don't do anything I'm setting myself up for major health issues. Keep us posted on your progress and I'll keep sending good vibes to ya.
