I figure I might as well give my opinion on all of your posts. The only thing I'm doing right now is walking. Some outside and some inside on a treadmill. As soon as I'm cleared at about 8 weeks I want to join curves to go with my walking. Cheryl

I'm walking a mile at least 4 days a week. I also mow my lawn with a push mower (self propelled at least). I have a huge lawn. If I did the whole thing at once it takes about 4 hours! I also have Leslie Sansone's walking DVD's as well as a weight set in the basement. I have to say though, I love CURVES and probably will go back after surgery or at least thru the winter months.

Hi Lynz, Welcome to Obesityhelp. I'm also from Oxford.  I'm 14 months post op now (and at goal) and have excersized both at home and at the gym. I save the money for the gym in the winter and get my excersize at home during the summer months. I've been looking at Curves in South Paris to see if that's where I want to go this winter. Last winter I went to Personal Best. I liked it because it's close to my work.  Congrats on your new journey and if you have any questions just ask, that's what we're here for. ~dori~

The BC Personal Trainer I have sets us up for alot of in-home exercises because there's statistics that show people who exercise at home keep with it, and those who only go to the gym, tend to be inconsistent with their exercise program.  He also said that because of the limits of the machines at Curves, I would probably outgrow it within the first year.  Personally, when I'm cleared to exercise again, I plan to do both.  I have a Curve's membership and love it, but I do find that it's not as convienient to go out to exercise as it is to do it at home whenever I can fit it in.   Pre-op, my hubby and I had alot of fun learning all the new exercises that the trainer gave us.  Stability Balance Ball, Ab Lounge, Cords, etc.  I'm looking forward to that again. Blessings, Yvonne

I dont have a large house and winter in aproaching so Id like to start some fitness stuff going.I think ill start at home maybe with DVD's and walk out side then when I feel more comfortable try out Curves. Any ideas on good Dvd's that are reasonable priced?
