Northern Maine girl saying hi

Hi Bethany, Wow!! Long way for a county girl!  Best of luck with your surgery.  I am from Presque Isle and will be going to Portland shortly (hopefully) for an RNY with Dr. Cobean.  I haven't heard much about VGS but welcome to the board.

Hi Bethany, I'm also from Northern Maine, Fort Kent area.  I am new to the board as well.  I'm looking into having Lap Band surgery and I'm heading to Bangor next week for my first informational meeting.  From what I understand it's going to be a long process but I think well worth it.  My biggest fear is that my insurance might deny the procedure because of my BMI of 39.  Anyway I wish you the best of luck on your surgery.  Take Care Tammy

Welcome, Bethany! How exciting for you! Can I ask why you're headed so far away to have surgery? How long will you be gone? :)

I do not mind answering your questions at all. I need to go so far away because.... I am self pay, no Dr in Maine will talk to me because I am self pay and my BMI is 38. I have found a great Dr in Texas who will take care of my for a fraction of the price. Not to mention that there is not a Dr in Maine that does ( at least to my knowledge ) the Vertical Sleeve, which is the proceedure I truely feel is the best for me. Have a great weekend. Hi Bethany,  Welcome Aboard!   My son is in Presque Isle going to college.  It's about a 5 hour drive for us and definitely in the NORTH!  LOL    I don't know much about the VSG surgery, but I wish you the best of luck.  Will you be flying toTexas?  It would make a long drive, especially on the way home.  Is your surgery actually in Texas or Mexico (you mentioned previously)?  Do you have to stay in the area there after your surgery for a certain length of time?    I hope you'll keep us posted.   Your new chapter in life is about to begin....!
