On a roll...
Well my husband and I celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary last weekend and we decided to spend it on a weekend vacation to Bar Harbor and Acadia National park. I was 3 1/2 week out of sugery and felt so good. I climbed, hiked, walked, played mini golf, and shopped till I dropped!
We ate out for dinner at the Log Cabin restaurant (I got the sald bar and just picked things that I knew I could eat) and we ate breakfast the next morning at a cute little breakfast spot in downtown (I ordered a ham omlet with a side of fresh fruit). That evening for supper we went to one of the local lobster pounds and shared a lobster and steamers meal. What a difference this surgery makes! LoL, one meal instead of two, SO MUCH CHEAPER! I made it through two steamers and 1/3 a lobster claw and I was stuffed. I still haven't completely been able to break my habbit of drinking while eating, I'm still working on that so I fill up a little faster than I should. The best thing is, all the meals I bought lasted me for days, that's SO different for me!
All in all, it was a wonderful trip. If any of you are MySpace users, you can see our anniversary weekend trip photos on my page at http://www.myspace.com/pampereddarcy

You know I am lucky I guess, but I got to thinking today about it and it's a little concerning that I can have absolutely anything I want.
For instance, I'm a "Pampered Cook" by profession so I'm always cooking something up good either for my husband or my customers. Now I know I can't eat it, but I have to admit, I have taken tiny bites to taste test some of my creations. I made Macaroni Cheese soup the other night for my hubby and I had to try a bite. It was great and didn't effect me at all. And today I had a weak moment and decided to eat a piece of left over taco ring that I made. I know the ground beef and cheese are allowed but it also had taco seasoning and was wrapped in cresent roll. I ate about a half cup portion and part of a sour pickle and was full and have been fine all day.
Does anyone know if this is normal??? Today was naughty of me and I'll be going back to the normal soft foods diet tomorrow, but still... do some people just not dump or vomit? I havn't even been close yet, I almost want to go take a big bite out of the cake I made the other night just to test myself and see if my system will actually work! LoL

Well, I guess every surgeon is different. But mine had a bird when I told him I had 3 bites of chicken at 1 week out. He said the first 30 days are imperative to stay on a liquid blended diet as the chances are greater that you could rupture your pouch and get a leak. You may want to double check that with your Surgeon. And as far as testing, my fear is it will let me eat it and then would I be able to control myself?
