Am STILL trying to figure out what to get for a protein source and am looking at all you guys for help. Can you tell me what you use, how you fix it (if that applies) and where you get it. Thanks...                                             Netti

I'm still pre-op too, but I'll be using Beneprotein(by the makers of Benefiber). My nutritionist gave me a sample of it and I love it! Why? Because it's unflavored and you REALLY can't taste it at all. I mixed it into a cup of tea and never knew it was there - no clumps or anything. You can't buy it in stores and the cheapest I've found it is www.resource.walgreens.com 10.99 a can or 29.99 for 75 individual serving packets with free shipping. It was important for me to get something unflavored, since I'm planning on putting it in most of my beverages and I was afraid my tastes would change after surgery! HTH - Summer

Hi Netti, I am almost 3 months out. I can't stand the protein powders anymore. I have 2 protein drinks now that I can tolerate the taste.  I drink the IDS Liquid Protien Bullets they have 42 grms of protien and I drink half at a time. And also Slim Fast Low Carb premixed can (choc)  there is only 1gram of sugar and 20 grams per can. I buy the liquid bullets right online. Usually they have a link on the left of this page.  Although I see now Profect bullets, but the brand I buy is the IDS Whey Protien and they are around $29 for 12 bullets.  And the Slimfast I buy at Walmart it is $5.88 for the 4 pack. Hope this helps!

There are NO protein drinks I could drink after surgery. before surgery they were ok but not after. I am a year out and just now can SOMETIMES drink the slimfast low carb low sugar drink. My nurtritists told me NOT to try to drink them before because they made most sick. Good Luck, Pam

Hi Netti,    I spent alot of time trying out different protein mixes, drinks & shakes before surgery.  My favorite was the Body Fortress Vanilla Protein Powder at Walmart for $12 - large jug.  The vanilla worked well with mixing in fruits, peanut butter, etc.  For me, trying to find a good protein shake was like having to kiss alot of yucky frogs before you found the prince!  LOL  Some were just really awful!     Unfortunately since surgery, I haven't been able to drink any type of protein shake or drink.  But I think that only happens occassionaly.  Most patients can drink them post-op without any problems.  Good luck with your search!      Are you counting the hours yet? Blessings, Yvonne

Thanks everyone! I always see a whey protein choc. and vanilla mix at Wal-Mart but it emphasizes building bigger muscles and therefor I think that can't be what I want. I didn't know there were protein bullets out there.  My problem is I am WAY WAY WAYYYY in the sticks and the closest Wal-Mart is a half hour away and anything bigger than that is 2 hours away so my choices are limited. I have no credit card so I can't get things online either. Am going to get a few more things tomorrow before my surgery Thursday so I will look a little harder and see what I can find. Thanks again everyone!         Netti
