Finally home
Cheryl, Sounds like it definately will be a journey. How much liquids are you drinking a day? Is it jus****er? What do you do when you feel sick? (lay down etc...?)
I too am a coffee drinker and am happily willing to give it up for this surgery-- although I am looking forward to having a cup when I am allowed to but now I too am wondering if I will like it .
Keep up the hard work and hope to be right behind ya soon.
Take care...Netti
I'm getting at least 48 ounces of water or crystal light a day but trying for more. When I feel sick I just ride it out, I haven't felt so sick I had to lay down. Most of the feelings is just a heavy feeling in my chest. I know as far as the coffee my nutritionist said you can drink decaf with no problem so if you still like the taste go for it!! When I drink coffee I like the flavored creamers and they have tons of sugar so thats out. I tried a sugar free kind and it was yucky!!
Good luck, your time is almost here,
Cheryl
Cheryl,
isn't it great to have it over and be on the other side. First things first JUST worry about your fluids as you do not want to dehydrate. The protein part will come. NO ONE gets their protein in, in the beginning it is impossible. And those protein drinks make most people sick. When i went to my 2nd week check up I was so glad to hear from my nut don't drink them if they make you sick and they probably will.
Just now after nearly 1 year I can sometimes tolerate a slimfast low carb, 20 mg protein drink but even that is not all the time now.
It is weird how the taste change. I was just talking about that with someone yesterday. People try to stock up on things especially protein drinks before surgery and then can not even drink them it is ashame.
It is a little rough the first 2 months were for me. One time I could eat something and it iwas Ok and then the next not ok. I think it has to do with howe fast we eat, if we were upset or hurried etc etc.
But it does get better !!!!!!!!
Let us know how you are doing !!!!!
Pam
I know the stocking up thing well, I have a whole cupboard of different shakes and some of them were real good before surgery but now I haven't found one that works. I'm going to keep trying and if they don't work bring them to the support group and offer them there maybe they'll work for someone else.
The blenderized cream soups go ok if I only eat 1 ounce at a time but that's about it for food so far. I've been just trying really hard on fluids. I've heard a million times that the first month is the worse so I can't wait for month number 2. Cheryl
