Help!!!
Ok I have been reading around in a few different forums and I have gotten myself allllllllll confused now, so I need you guys help. I am having surgery the 20th and the surgeon is Dr. Clough in Bangor. I have read that people need to take blood thinners, to something to clean their bowels out before surgery to some injections called Lovenox . This is the first time I have heard of any of those things so I am hoping that different surgeons do those things and I have not completely missed all that on my own! Could someone who is familiar with Dr. Clough's procedure get back to me on this. THANKS!!!! Netti
Netti, I didnt have to take any blood thinner or anything to clean the bowels out...Dr. clough does not have you do any of those things.. all you will do is go to hospital in the a.m. sign in and they do all the rest. do not worry you have not missed anything..only one thing you should do is find out if you should take meds the morning of surgery..i dont take any so wasnt a problem for me..
anymore question just ask. the surgery is getting closer you will be ok

Hi Netti, Every surgeon is different. They gave me a blood thinner injection right before my surgery and then one afterwards during the night. Some surgeons have their patients do it themselves. Also I had Dr Cobean and he doesn't require a bowel prep. We just have to be on a two week liquid diet and not to eat 12 hours before the surgery. Some surgeons also put a drain in you, ( I don't know if you have watched Big Medicine but they do that) Dr Cobean doesn't think they are necessary.
Hope this helps!! And don't worry, you will be fine!!
