Hi everyone

Has anyone gone to the support classes at Bangor Hospital ? How are they? How long after do you start your pre op appointments after attending the support and education class? between attending the pre op support/education class when did you have you surgery? Granted you didn’t have to do the 6 month pre op diet.

THANKS, Kim

Hi Kim, I have gone to many support group meetings and just had my surgery there on the 8th. The typical time frame from your informational meeting and support group to surgery date is about 4 to 5 months. I went to my support group in January and had my first nutrition class in Feb. I was supposed to have my surgeon meeting in May but had to pu**** back to June to fulfill insurance diet requirements. From what I understand there is a lot of people going through the program right now and only so many doctors. I also know that the surgeons, well atleast mine, are backlogged in surgeries. The support group is 2 hours long, they will pass around a binder and you sign in so they know you were there. Also, when you go do not sit at the center table, that is for post-op people only. Nobody told my info class that and so we were all sitting there until the leader of the meeting told us otherwise. Let me know if you have any more questions! Good luck!
Start: 350 Surgery: 325 Current: 233

Hi, Thanks for answering my questions. I'm really excited about going to the meetings. Thanks for the heads up about the center table. It seems like alot of people seek wls in the winter/spring months. I might not have to do a pre op diet, so I'm wondering if it'll go by really fast..between the edu/sprt classes and the insurance submit anywhoo thanks alot! ~Kim
