Hey everyone My name is Timmy Ray S.  (last name withheld to protect embarrassment long term for my long deceased parents doncha know :P)... I am relatively new to Maine, I have been here since November 2006. My date of surgery was December 22nd, 2004, and I am down about 250 pounds. I have flucuated quite a bit but not back over 400.. I started at 601 pounds the day of surgery. My surgery was in Iowa... and I have lived in a supportive Post surgery community of folks in New Jersey and been very active in a couple of monthly support groups in Central New Jersey. The surgery (laproscopic RNY surgery... pre surgery I had all the following..) I dont have high blood pressure anymore... I dont have edima... in my legs and arms... I dont have Type II diabetes anymore... Im a basic happy camper at 43 years young : ) I am upbeat, looking to start (or join) a support group on a monthly basis in Bangor or north of Bangor.  In Maine a trip to the grocery store is often an HOUR.. lol... so I live in Millinocket in Penobscot County... but willing to travel to Bangor. Somebody.. anyone.. jump in here and talk to the Timmy? Whats the support group scene here?   Does anyone else want to participate in a meeting in the Millinocket area?   Is there existing meetings in Bangor? The format I am familar is .... Post surgery folks getting together to share and educate those that are invesitgating and preparing for surgery,... in a laid back, open format... everyone introduces themselves and says a little bit about their **journey**.. briefly... and sometimes where we invite a Health professional or speaker  on surgery... or nutrition. This (what I am familar with) is a big hit in New Jersey where I am from... I helped start a offshoot group that is now often 40 plus people in attendence.   Its a supportive, safe atmosphere filled with **people that have been there**... to ask questions, about the surgery... about protein needs and how to get it... vitamins... getting hydration (think water water water)... and all the GOOD stuff. I rejoice having had the surgery.. and I have a lot to share with others. Anyone out there interested? I have references from a couple years in NJ and a hospital I worked with there... so I am not totally a wild hair outta place : ) Have a super day.. and watch out for those Moose on Hwy 95.... they are BIG suckers. Take care God bless Timmy Ray S.
