Hello All, I took step one today! I met with my PCP who listened to me and let me chose Dr. Cobean of Casco Bay Surgery in Portland Maine. You know being a career firefighter I have always respected fire and never have been scared of it. But now I am really nervous about the next step! But I am sure I will feel better in a few days! Hi Steve. Congratulations on having the courage to talk to your PCP about this.  I know how nerve-wracking that can be. Good choice on surgeons. I picked Dr. Cobean too!  Haven't met him, yet, and sure can't wait!  As for being nervous, I think that's pretty normal.  The more you learn about this whole process, the better you will feel.  These boards are FULL of info and support...You're in the right place. Good luck with everything!

Take care.

Hello, Thanks for the words of encouragment! I actually know Dr. Cobean from him teaching a few classes and he was a Trauma Surgeon for years at MMC before he swapped over to Bariatric. So I knkow him from dealing with trauma patients! Thanks again for the words of encouragement! Steve

Awesome!  Just go step by step and before you know it you'll be looking back at yesterday with a smile and looking towards the future with great anticipation and energy!   And as I'm sure you know, our fears are often unfounded and unneccessary.  But they're also normal.  Ease some of those fears by making sure you research the surgery and post-op life as much as you can.  There's power in knowledge.  And be sure to ask lots of questions....there are no stupid questions, especially when it comes to your health.   Good Luck Steve!  Keep us posted. Blessings, Yvonne
