Almost there!!!!

My Dr. submitted my file to the insurance company yesterday so now it's just a waiting game. Does anyone know how long Mainecare takes to approve or deny someone? It's only been about 24 hours and I'm allready getting impatient!! It's been 4 months of madness but it's finally almost over. I even lost the 26 pounds that they require and that was amazing in itself. I've had 2 sleep studies (not fun at all) and now am the proud owner of a CPAP machine that blows plastic smelling air up my nose all night long. I have another sleep study 6 months after surgery to see if I still need it, I hope it can be gone by then. Well I just wanted to tell my news, Cheryl

I have to say congrats to you, but that Im quite jealous!! I have only gone through the first month of my six month supervised diet and Im already being impatient. The worst part of it is too that I can't even lose the weight that he wants me to because if I did then my BMI would be too low to qualify before they send to insurance. Once the six months are up then I have to concentrate on the 23 lbs I need to lose for suregery.  Corrine says that we are going to do weight maintenance so that I still qualify. I wish you the best of luck and a quck answer. Cristy

Hi Cheryl,    I sent you an email, but thought I'd reply here as well.  When I first started the process I had MaineCare, who denied me twice.  Both my initial application and my appeal took 14 days to hear back.  So you should hear something soon.  I'll pray that things go quicker for you.      Won't be long now and you'll be sitting with us on the Loser's Bench which I am proud to say I'm a new member of!   Blessings, Yvonne

Thank you everyone, I was hoping it was only a couple of weeks and not months. I'm sure I'll let everyone know as soon as I get the (hopefully good) news.   I went to my first post-surgical support group last night and it was amazing. They had all kinds of chewable vitamins and minerals to take home and try plus they made up protein drinks to taste. The session ended at 8:00 but the ones who were there that didn't have surgery yet stayed until past 9:00 to talk and ask the post-surgical people questions. They were so helpful and told us step by step how Dr. Loggins does things. I can't believe how much I learned talking to others who have been through surgery. Thanks again, Cheryl

OMG Cheryl!!! I was there too!!! Hmm I am trying to picture you... And where you were sitting! Hmmmm.. I am soo excited for you, I got my letter back from Mainecare about 2 weeks after they submitted it, then Crystal got me in for surgery fairly quickly.. I am having my surgery tomorrow!!! I am soo excited and nervous, but I am sure that I will do fine..

Good luck with hearing back from Mainecare, I hope all goes well for you, and maybe I will see you at the next support group?! Tarka
