Hello everyone!!!  Surgery went without complications friday.  I woke up with pain like I didn't expect though.  I have had plenty of surgeries and this was TOTALLY different kind of pain.  I think that is what made me so emotional as well.  I did alot of crying  that first  24 hours.  THen the ice chips came,  It really hurt deep in my chest to crunch those up and swallow those.  Dr. Huang was able to the laprascopic procedure so I have 6 small cuts placed    randomly on my belly.  My insides feel like they have been taken out and tied in knots and put back in. EMMC was wonderful,,,,,,,Merritt 3 where you stay postop has some of the most wonderful nurses and techs.                                               You may get a room with someone who has not had this procedure though, so expect them to get food trays though.  It didn't bother me in the least, just sharing that info.  The pain took a while to get under control, but both the doc and nurses kept right on top of that for me,  like I said, they were WONDERFUL. Will write more later, and I think my daughter is going to help me with my profile and getting pics on there and stuff,   I don'[t know much about this kind of stuff, but she does.  So far         Carnation Instant Breakfast,        (sugar free)  popsicles (sugar free) and sugar free jello with unjury mixed in are things that I have gotton down and tolerated very well. Talk at you later, Maryellen

Hi Maryellen!  Welcome to the losing side!  I am happy and relieved that your surgery went with no complications!! I am two weeks out today and my belly pain is finally now gone.  I was at Maine Med and they actually brought me a regular meal! I think it was Turkey and Potatoes. I said uh Duh!! They did have SF custard which was good and I ate it with no problem.  I also got my Maine Med bill on Friday it was $11513.81, to be exact!     Thanks for the Jello/Unjury idea. I was wondering what I was going to do with 2 cans of this stuff!    I also am looking forward to seeing pics of you!   Keep in touch!

Maryellen, that's great. I didn't know you were having your surgery so soon! Good for you, I'm just changing to aetna so have to start from square one but I need to find out if they cover it without jumping through a zillion hoops. Hey guess what.....I'm going to be a grandmother next month! My daughter is expecting a little boy named Tyler on 8/21! How's that for exciting?? Good luck to you and I hope you're feeling better by the time you read this, I'll be thinking of you.
