To call or not to call?

This whole waiting game is making me nuts. I know that my file went to review yesterday and I really want to know when they are sending me out to insurance. (or IF they are sending me!) I want to call them, but don't want to be a pest and have them push me further out. I don't want them to think I am nuts. The process they put us through is a good protection for them but I spent a year doing my research, not wanting to waste their time if I was not 100% sure it was the right thing for me. I knew it would be a wait but I didn't know how long it would FEEL. I feel like I am losing my mind.

Hi Shelli - Not in your position yet, but I think if I was in your position, I'd play "dumb". I'd call and say " I forgot whether I was supposed to call you or if you were going to call me????"   That way, they shouldn't get offended and you'll get information that way - either "We'll call when we hear back from insurance" or "when it's finished being reviewed we'll XYZ" and you can say "Oh! Sorry! I wasn't sure/completely forgot/I'm so forgetful sometimes" etc. Play dumb, it'll get you some info without looking pushy! Sure, they;ll probably roll their eyes at how "dumb" you are, but it'll give you the info you're looking for ( you'll know what the status is based on how they phrase their response) without them feeling like you're being pushy or demanding. Win win for you! That's what I'd do anyway! LOL

Hi Sheli,     From beginning to end, this whole process takes alot of time and patience.  Although I'm not exactly at the same point you are, I totally understand how frustrating it is to keep waiting when you've done all the research, been through all the evaluations, and know for absolutely sure that this is what you want.  I was approved for GBP Surgery last week but will probably not have surgery until August.  Talk about trying to be patient!  Ugh!  I know it's coming, but still got to jump through the hoops.....      I agree that you should always be pro-active in your health care, including knowing where things stand.  Don't hesitate to call or email your Bariatric office.  They know how anxious you are and expect these types of calls.  Why go nuts, when at least you'll have a better idea of where things stand for the moment.   Call.     Keep the faith!  Before you know it, we'll be looking back a year from now and be amazed at how fast it all went by.   And don't forget....Breathe!  LOL Blessings, Yvonne
