My first post here.  I am having surgery on July 2nd , Bypass w/ Dr. Toder at EMMC.  No one has said anything about pre -op dieting  !!  It was suggested loosing weight before surgery was a good thing to do and to get used to new foods, etc. Did I miss something ??  Looked through all my written material and see nothing there. Anyone  have a copy of a good pre op diet as I don't mind doing that. Sooner this weight comes off the better, right.

Hi There,       I think it depends on the program your going through and your surgeon.  My Dr. is Dr. Trieu through Augusta MGMC Bariatric Center and he has us do a 2 week Protein Shake Liquid Diet pre-op.  It helps to shrink the liver to make surgery easier, plus it also helps us lose weight before surgery too.   Good luck with your surgery!  Keep us posted. Blessings, Yvonne

HeyBelle, I am on my pre-op diet now!  Surgery is on Monday with Dr Cobean at Maine Med.  I have been able to stick with the diet they gave me. I have lost about 13 lbs on it.  Check it out at   www.cascobaysurgery.com Kathi

I am having surgery July 6th, bypass w/ Dr. Huang at EMMC.  Northeast surgery does not require a pre-op diet.  I am kind of glad because there are some foods that I want to have in the next 12 days, that I wont't be able to have for a long time.  They are not necessarily "bad" foods either.  I haven't gained any weight since January at my first weigh in, so thats what they really don't want you to do anyways, is GAIN weight. Best of luck to you!! I am right behind ya! Maryellen
