Officially Banded Yesterday!
I was banded yesterday, and came home today. Port site is sore, but I am taking Oxycodone. I had excellent care at Maine Medical Center, Portland. I will be sending a basket of fruit for the nurses and CNA's on the Short Stay Unit. Now the real work begins - so far, I am not extremely hungry and have not been able to eat more than 4 ounces at a time, and that takes me awhile to get down. I had the Campbell's Select Butternut Squash soup for lunch (I can get 5 servings out of 1 box) and it is delicious! I had 2 ounces of unsweetened applesauce. I don't usually sleep on my back, but I will have to because I am too sore to sleep on my side. My husband will have to put up with my snoring while I am on my back - oh well. I will keep you posted. I am going to take a nap now, the Oxycodone is kicking in. When I awoke in Recovery Room, I asked the nurse if I was skinny yet. LOL Take Care,
Linda, Yes, those Darvocets are pretty big to swallow. I only took one Oxycodone today at noon, 8 hours earlier, I took 2 oxycodones at 4 am. After my shower I felt much better. The steam in the shower helped loosen some chest congestion and I was able to cough up some stuff.
Wow, you are lucky to be able to sleep on your side. I can't sleep on either side yet. This will get better, I'm sure. Well, Linda, stay in touch. I will keep you posted. I plan to go to the next Post-op Lap Band support meeting next month. It is usually held on the 2nd Friday every month. Take Care, Rachel
ps - I had my photo taken with Dr. Wolff on surgery day, check it on my photos.
