First Meeting Down

Met with dietitian and Dr Wolff for the first time today. I was approved by the social worker...Looks like things continue to move on. Dr Wolff wanted to make sure I knew about the band and I said I did...it kind of felt like that was her preferred procedure..Anyone else?

Hi,  My dh and I saw Dr. Wolff today also.  This was our second app't  we signed consent .  My dh is having bypass and I lap-band.  I do agree that I think she prefers lapband.  She told us that it would be August before we have surgery due to the fact that she will be on maturnity (sp?) leave.  Hope everything goes as smoothly for you as it has so far for us.

Wow...that's super that she's expecting!  If she plans to be operating in August, she must be due just after my surgery date 6/13. 

Yes, I was told that Dr. Wolff preferrs doing the bands and Dr. Cobean preferrs doing the bypass.  However both are competent at BOTH procedures.  Both are excellent surgeons!  They just prefer one surgery over the other for their own personal reasons I'm sure.  I know that Dr. Wolf likes the Band because it is a safer procedure.  Anyway...good luck to you!

Congratulations.  The first appt was the hardest for me.  I felt like they were trying to scare us out of it.  In hindsight they likely were so that only the serious come back.  It was obvious to me at the first visit that dr Wolff like the band better.  She asked me why I wanted RNY and why I wasn't interested in the band.  She even explained to me why she prefers the band.  At the second visit when she knew I had made my decision, she never even brought the band up.  She told me she thought I would do great with they RNY, and that was that.  The second appt felt far more positive, and even almost like "congratulations for making it through the process".  Dr Wolff is doing my RNY on 6/13.  Best wishes!!
