Got my cpap machine

Hi everyone, I got my cpap machine and used it last night. they have it set on 14. I used the barrell shaped pillow nasle for my mask. I like it because it was light, but the problem is that it feels like it was blowing my nose off. Luckly I had the one the Sleep center gave me full face mask.. The problem is I woke up with a bad head ache and I feel like I have a head cold, I woke 4 time last night feeling my mouth was very dry. I put the heat on 3 and then turn it up more. . I thought this thing was suppose to help u sleep. I am calling Lincare today to let them know about the pillow will have to have full face mask. I sleep with my mouth open. I know it is going to take time for me to get use to it, but I hope I dont get sick from the cold air blowing in. I cant sleep with air condistioner or the fan running becasue I get sick. Does anyone havae any info that could help me? Im going to be have Dr.Clough as my surgeon. Just waiting for the appointment to see him. Barb

Hey Barb, I went with the nasal mask only and its wierd because I always used to sleep with my mouth open, but now I guess subconciously >sp>? I don't. My machine is set at 9 but in the beginning it was set at 7 before my titration sleep study. after my second sleep study I got to see Dr Huang. Lynn said that some people do there own titration at home though? I had a sore throat for the first week using my machine, but then it went away. I think it was the sudden change that my body had to adjust to. I keep it on for about 5 hours a night which has helped a great deal with my daytime sleepiness. Hang in there! Maryellen

Hey Maryellen, What is Lynn talking about do there own titration at home? I have a wicked headache still from this morning, my nose it burning and my eyes are popping out of my head. I put a call into Lincare and the lady is going to call me back. They think it might be set to high. I like the nasal mask but not blowing my head off. I wish i knew how to turn it down from 10. when it is ramping at 7 its great dont bother me at all. why to 14 it think it pay back from doctor from me making him mad..they got me. not having a good day at all. I drive school bus bad enough the kids are bad this tiime of year to be stuck with headache and nose pain. Sorry for rambling have great day. Barb
