GETTING NERVOUS
I am going for my Lap-Band next Tuesday on May 22 at MMC Dr. Renee Wolff is doing the surgery. I am starting to get a little nervous but at the same time I can't wait to get it all over with. I am a little tired of the liquid diet cause my stomach doesn't know that it is about to go through some major changes, it keeps telling me that I am hungry. Just a shake in the morning and for lunch is not much to feel full. I hope this feeling of hunger goes away once the band is in place and all healed up.

Linda... I am feeling the same... My surgery is May 30th with Dr. Wolff.
I had a headache BAD the first two days.
Try eating some raw veggies dipped in a small amount of fat free dressing or dip.
That is what is keeping me sane. That and the SF Jello. I talked to Barb (the dietician and she said all of that is fine.
So I am having the Low Carb Slim Fast 3 times a day. Raw veggies such as Carrots, Red and Yellow Pepper Strips, Cucumbers, Dill Pickles... even salad. She said we can definitely make a salad for lunch with our shake and have a serving of FAT FREE Dressing on it. That is fine. Eat what they allow that way you wont die of hunger. HAHAH! Just put that little bit of dressing on that salad and mix and mix and toss and toss until it gets all over those greens! Tastes good! ") heheh.
I spoke to the nurse at the center ...Sharon. She said as long as we dont go much above 1000 to 1200 calories a day we will be fine. The main she said is to avoid FAT at all costs.
I also have Lean Cuisine for dinner. They also have Dinnertime Selects which is a slightly larger portion than the regular ones... still not much food but good. She said those are fine too. ") I have both sizes so I just alternate depending on how starving I feel.
OH>... another thing Barb said it's ok for us to have 1/2 cup fresh fruit a day so what I have done is bought fresh frozen (no sugar added) berries and added 1/2 cup of them to my Slim Fast or Carnation Instant Breakfast and blended it up in my Magic Bullet. EXCELLENT! Tastes great! I try to keep the fruits in my morning eats because that way you are not going to bed with the natural sugar in your system over night... gives it a chance to work out during the day.
Maybe if you add the fruit to your breakfasts and the salad to your lunch then do your dinner you wont feel so hungry? I'm starting to do the veggie thing with the dip as a snack too to keep my tummy from rumbling. It helps a lot!!!!
Let me know how you are doing ... I'd love to stay in touch!!!!

Hi Heather,
yes I've done the salads, and the raw veggies the problem now is none of it will stay in my system, within a half hour of eating salad or veggies I am in the bathroom with terrible cramps along with the bowls. Sorry to be so honest but that is why I have to start to slow down on the salads and raw veggies.
Thanks for your help
I did get a call from the office today telling me that my surgery has been moved up. I now have to be at the hospital at 8 in the morning and surgery is for 9.
I can't wait
Linda
Linda,
My surgery is scheduled for May 23rd with Dr. Wolff. I am so excited about this - not really nervous. (I've had numerous surgeries, and so I have a pretty good pain tolerance). I also work as an RN myself, and know pretty much what to expect. I found that drinking lots of water is helping to keep me full. - but, of course, I am also visiting the bathroom more frequently, too.
Good luck to you, Linda!
