Pre-Op Diet Going Better Than Expected!
Hi Rachael. Good for you. I hate the pre op diet. LOL. I had a headache for 2 days. Now (3rd day) I feel better but I am hungry.
What are you eating with your diet? What kind of Protein Drinks? Meal at night?
I'm doing the Low Carb Slim Fast and Lean Cuisine.
I'd love to hear from you. My surgery is May 30th! Just one week after you! I can't wait!
Is your surgery in the morning or afternoon? Mine isn't until 2:00 that day so they told me to expect to stay over night.
Hi Heather,
I am drinking 3 Slim Fast Low Carb Shakes and a sensible meal. I have been measuring everything I am putting in my plate and counting the calories, fats, carbs and proteins. I am limiting my intake to 1200 calories a day. On the days I am not working, I have the meal with my family. On work days, I have the meal (lean cuisine or weigh****chers) at work.
So far, I have lost nearly 6 lbs., and I still have 5 more days to go...
I am scheduled for surgery at 11:00 am, so I am fairly certain I may stay the night.
I have tried the unjury protein powder samples - they are not bad, if you put it in the blender. I have also tried the whey unflavored protein - not bad either. I will try and be creative with my shakes by adding fruit and ice cubes to make smoothies.
Good luck to you Heather - let's stay in touch, OK?
Rachel
I definitely want to stay in touch!!!! It's good to be able to chat with someone with the same surgeon that has the same diet expectations etc.
That's great about the 6 pounds!!! I hope I have lost some weight. I got rid of my scale so I wouldn't know until Monday when I go in for the Pre-Op Testing.
Have you gone for your testing yet? The one at the hospital with the Anethesiologist and all? What's that like? (If you have gone).
Heather,
I had my pre-admission testing done on 5/9. It went well, however, I was a little nervous when I had to step onto the scale. I was another 2 lbs down by then - good. The nurse practioner was very nice. She gave me a prescription for some anti-nausea med as I always experience post-op nausea after surgery. I did not meet the anesthesiologist at that appt. I met with the nurse practicitioner who works with the anesthesioligist. I will see the anesthesiologist on day of surgery. Typically, the pre-admission testing is scheduled around a couple of weeks prior to surgery.
They take your vital signs, weight, labwork, EKG (I am over 50), go over your health history and answer any/all questions you may have at that time (I suggest you write them down, so you won't forget). They go over what to do on day of surgery, the night before, etc.
Remember: You will get weighed on surgery day! If you gain weight - they could cancel your surgery that very day!
Good luck on Monday!
Rachel
