Hi Cheryl, I went to GNC in the bangor mall and tried the isopure premade 20oz bottles. I went to the health food store and got free samples.. I tried the protein drinks but couldnt get them down, I have chatted with alot of pple and they say if you cant get the protein drink down try cutting it with crystal light or water and it might help. I tried it with the Isopure and it sure helped. I was also told that I should not buy alot of protein at first because after sugery your tastes buds change.. Barb

The Isopure drinks that are Grape, apple, and orange (one more I cant remember) are protien drinks I found at a local gym in Winthrop, and they have a little bit of aftertaste, but pretty great. I found them much easier to drink then the Slimfasts, or any of the shake type drinks. Trying to find them any place but that gym is a great challenge. I asked a local health food store in Augusta to carry them, but no such luck. GOOD luck on your surgery.

I am 6 wks out from gastric bypass . I know that you can do alot with the instant breakfast you have to be careful with slim fast because it has sugar in it I didn't realize that until someone in the hospital asked me if it made me dump. I would save my fruit and put it in my protein add some ice i also use the carb conscious milk it come choc or whit and has more protein than reg. milk and it is good. This morning I made choc instant breakfast w/choc milk and 1 tb. p butter it is very good. I use the flavorless protein by jay robb also you can put it into your water if ya wanted to no taste. its all a big experiment guys. Have fun tina

I was told that with Lap-band you don't have to worry so much about dumping because you still have your stomach to process what goes in it Linda

Ya... there is no Dumping Syndrome with Lap Band surgery. So eating sugar does not cause that as it does with GB. I talked to Barbara this morning and she said that I could have the High Protein if I wanted but the reason they list the Low Carb Diet Slim Fast on the Pre-Op Paper was that it is the one with the most Protein and the least amount of Carbs. They feel that is the one that will ultimately curb hunger the most. I found the Low Carb Diet Slim Fast at Hannaford in a 4 can pack. I will have my Husband check BJ's too. I also asked Barbara about eating veggies and fruit. She said we can have all the raw veggies we want as long as we don't add fat to them. Also we can have the serving of fruit each day. For Instance she said it would be ok if I had the Slim Fast for breakfast and a serving of Fruit. For Lunch Slim Fast and a Salad with Fat Free Dressing. For Dinner I could have a Lean Quisine... and a salad...fat free. Or the 3 ounces of meat...etc. And also another Slim Fast. I will most likely use that 3rd one as my dessert in the early evening hours. Anyway. The diet doesn't seem that bad now that I know all that. I was thinking we could only drink breakfast and lunch and then have the tiny dinner. I could space stuff out and wouldn't be hungry at all I imagine.

Well after all this I tasted that Slimfast Low Carb. YUK. I'm going to use what I bought of that...(thankfully only 2 days worth) and go with the Carnation Instant Breakfast. It's the best tasting.
