I too have mainecare

Hi, My name is Judi. I was scheduled to have gastric bypass surgery in Oct of 2003. I chickened out 5 days before the surgery. I am very sure now that I want to get the lap band surgery ( I should have considered this option from the start) but I want to know if the surgery can be covered by mainecare. This is the only insurance that I have. Please let me know if anyone has had the lap band procedure and mainecare paid for it. Thanks and I hope to hear from you soon.

I had gastric bypass last Sept 26th. I have done great. I was told lap band was not covered by maine care because they had so much trouble with lap bands working. Why did you chicken out ??? I started at 470 and now weigh 332. I was 59 when I had surgery. Pam

I know this was posted abit ago.... But I am also wanting the LapBand and I also have Mainecare, well I called them for myself this am and asked if its covered..... They said yes it is covered under gastric bypass so long as its medically neccessary! Hope this helps Thanks, Lynn
