I had my first appointment with Dr Loggins at CMMC yesterday. I have Mainecare for an insurance and he said that Mainecare was one of the harder insurance companies to get approved with. I was so downhearted when he said that but I'm going to keep going with things and hope for the best. My question is, has anyone been approved with Mainecare? How long did it take and what kind of comorbidities (sp) did you have? Also what was your BMI? Mine is 52 and I have pre-diabetes, and high cholestrol. I have appointments for a sleep study, EKG, ultasounds, and tons of bloodwork. He said if all goes well and I get approved I can have the surgery as soon as mid July. That would be so awesome!! Thanks in advance for all your help, Cheryl

If you look to the left of the screen, you will see the topic "insurers" go there and click on the letter "m" and you will be able to read other peoples experiences with MaineCare. I had the same questions about TriCare and that helped alot. Good LUck to you!! I started my journey on Dec 1 and am looking at a June surgery. They found out I had sleep apnea after the sleep study and had to be treated for that before the surgeon appt. I am going to EMMC. Dr Huang Maryellen

Thanks that helped alot. All the people who left feedback were before 2006ish, so I hope the results are going to be the same. Much more were approved than denied!! Thanks again, Cheryl

Keep this in mind also. My dr said that 80% of people who are denied by insurer are approved after appeal. Many insurance companies will deny thinking no one will appeal. If they say no...appeal!!!

Hello, I see that your post was back in April and you prob already have had tons of replies, but I too have MaineCare and was approved in about a week with no issues. I am type 2 diabetic, have high blood pressure and have PCOS. My bmi was 39/41 at the time of surgery. I had Dr. Cobean from Casco Bay Surgery here in Portland. Hope this helps...and good luck!
